I loved this book I always enjoy reading about the relationship between Dorothy and Alan because they appreciate one another and know they are each lucky to have had two good marriages This time there was a murder almost right away with several possible suspects but no real evidence to indicate any particular one Many other issues and characters only served to confuse the entire case I very much enjoyed learning about the Orkney Islands and the archaeological excavations there I also found the characters very interesting I am left with a desire to visit there myself one day Shadows of Death Dorothy Martin 14 Poor Research Although the story line is entertaining the time line is completely haywire Mrs Thatcher who left office in 1990 is referred to in the past tense Suicide as a crime is referred to in the present tense but this crime was removed from the statute book in 1961 The accuracy of police procedure involving a civilian stretches the imagination but an error as glaring as this means that the author needs to be diligent in her research and obtain better proof readers before publishing again Shadows of Death Dorothy Martin 14 As far as I can remember this this actually my first Dorothy Martin Mystery Despite it being 14 I immediately felt at home with the characters and format In no way did I find the need to have read previous books in the series.
