Notorious for failed relationships Ellen Rosings knows that s true of cops Detective Tony Aragon has even said it about himself or something like it Despite her misgivings she is drawn to him but can he reach past a cop s cynicism to trust her As summer surrounds her Wisteria Tearoom in the beauty of a lush rose garden death overshadows the tearoom a second time Maria Garcia a venerable member of the Santa Fe Rose Guild breathes her last in the tearoom s front parlor throwing Ellen into a morass of doubt and conjecture Was it murder or merely misfortune Or as Tony suggests was it a crime of racial hatred The Ellen learns about the inner politics of the Rose Guild the she suspects foul play A Sprig of Blossomed Thorn Wisteria Tearoom Mysteries 2 A Sprig of Blossomed Thorn by Patrice Greenwood is the second book in the Wisteria Tea Room Mystery series waitress Rosa s grandmother visits the tea room only to die in the tea room of botulism poisoning A nice pleasant interesting mystery although a little drawn out as it wasn t even clear that there was even a mystery to solve The motive for the murder was also a little weak Overall a little farfetched and not very believable Mystery Good cozy mystery but the author tends to go on and on about Hispanic injustice in New Mexico Not a fan of cozy reads that push a political agenda May not read any in the series Mystery With book two I am even drawn to the tea room and all the happenings I came close to guessing the outcome however I was slightly off I love the addition of food and the descriptions detail given to them Ellen has such compassion for those around her and although I am sure that has something to do with Miss Manners I find that quality really relatable and nice I want to see Ellen and tony moments It is a back and forth slow burn build but I am invested already I love the introduction of a possible m m couple representation in side characters and I cannot wait to see how that plays out or possibly doesn t in the future books I cannot wait to continue reading and sharing this experience with my best friend We plan to have so many tea adventures in the future Mystery It is Summer and the Wisteria Tearoom is starting to get busy as the season advances and people find out about it a relative of Julio the chef has started as a waitress and one day she seems overly nervous when Ellen asks her what is wrong she admits that her Grandmother is coming to the tearoom the next day and Rosa wants everything to be just right When the frail matriarch arrives she is settled with a view of the roses that Ellen has planted as Maria is a keen member of the Santa Fe Rose Guild everything seems to be going well when Rosa suddenly rushes out her Grandmother has been taken ill by the time Ellen gets to her Maria is dead. A sprig of blossomed thorn book pdf At first glance it seems as though she had a stroke or some such but then the autopsy result comes back and it all looks a little sinister Now Ellen is juggling the tearoom diminished staffing due to the funeral etc her growing fondness for Tony the Police Officer worry about her office manager the fact that teens seem to be trespassing oh and her resident ghost This is a wonderful continuation of the book I read a while back as a book club month read I have thought about reading this and the rest of the series but for some reason I never got around to it and now I am wondering why this is a wonderful story with a well rounded cast and the author doesn t shy away from topics that could be tricky a five star read Mystery This one wasn t as good as the first in the series Overly long on the mystery until you wondered if there was one Ellen appears to live in la la land as far as social issues go Overall a bit of a yawner Mystery A Sprig of Blossomed Thorn (Wisteria Tearoom Mysteries, #2)Patrice Greenwood was born and raised in New Mexico and remembers when the Santa Fe Plaza was home to dusty dogs than trendy art galleries She has been writing fiction longer than she cares to admit perpetrating over twenty published novels in various genres She uses a different name for each genre thus enabling her to pretend she is a Secret Agent. Mystery A Sprig of Blossomed thornton She loves afternoon tea old buildings gourmet tailgating at the opera ghost stories costumes and solving puzzles Her popular Wisteria Tearoom Mysteries are colored by many of these interests She is presently collapsed on her chaise longue sipping Wisteria White tea and planning the next book in the series. A sprig of blossomed thorn pdf download Elderly Mrs Garcia falls dead in the tea room the second person to die there Proprietor Ellen whose business is already recovering from a murder the day the tea shop opened and who is coping with a possible ghost and a prickly but intriguing relationship with a local cop is horrified when it turns out the poor woman did not die of natural causes. A sprig of blossomed thorny pear Is it an ethnically motivated murder Mrs Garcia was a prominent member of the local rose club but its only Hispanic member Ellen tries to investigate in her own way as is Tony Aragon the cop she s dating As if she doesn t have enough problems besides the ghost Ellen s place is being haunted by teenagers in the middle of the night and then there s something going on with Kris Ellen s Goth accountant . A sprig of blossomed thornzone The story starts fast and stays brisk with several scenes with the kinetic snap I love as they veer between serious and comic Toward the end things get appropriately serious as Ellen and Tony separately and then together begin to close in on the murder while exploring unexamined bigotry that makes Ellen who is somewhat fussy uncomfortable Sharp character observation nifty stuff about roses evocative local atmosphere a touch of the weird and of romance made this an unputdownable read I am really looking forward to the next Mystery Mystery Might have read this too close to the first as in day after but it took quite s nose dive for me Partly Ellen started annoying me she s too precious about the peaceful atmosphere she wants to preserve in the tearooms if I think your attitude to guns while having romantic interest in a cop is daft you re in trouble she s still far too blind to her privilege and she is massively insensitive about Tony s lack of higher education I m surprised you know what the word luddite means no less I continued to hate the sound of the tearooms and decided to take a break from the series for a while Mystery Light cozy mystery read I like this better than the first book in the series Mystery I couldn t stop reading the second book Yes this book does have some political themes in it but that to me makes it feel real I m also glad for the tea theme It gives the dark tones a whimsical spin Mystery
