Keeping the reader enthralled in the novel till the last page Anna from HayAn interesting historical and real readI really enjoyed this book Being from Dowlais myself it was a very interesting read about the past and recognising many names and places The reality of life in Dowlais during this era were particularly harsh if you weren t born into money This book focused on the inequality of class and gender Anna the character wasn t particularly easy to identify with at times She was a hard woman and I often felt sympathy for those around her especially Rachel her youngest who I was willing to walk away from her mother and persue her career as a nurse in Brecon The mix of facts and fiction with history made this an excellent read It was different to read a book where the main character wasnt a conformist and a role model I was recommended to read this this book and I have found it gripping Kindle Edition

Anna from honey boo boo instagram For a time John s elevated position as a supervisor in the steelworks gave her the life she had wanted Tragedy struck when John died in an accident at work leaving her with two children On his death bed he confessed he had lied to her years her father was alive She embarked on a two year campaign to search for her father leaving her children with a neighbour The search was futile what s John s relatives had come to claim her children accusing Anna of neglect Again under desperate circumstances she married a man older than herself for security However he was in ill health and he died several years later leaving Anna destitute and with two young children Alcohol and self neglect took over until she ended in a home for the aged where she learned the truth about her father after he had died She had known him almost all her adult life but never thought that he an aging evangelist she had befriended could ever be her father.
