This was a good book A couple stories based on children were a bit rough to listen thru but I always have a hard time with those Stories were well written and audio was very good If you enjoy true crime stories this is a good listen for sure 305 Fifteen chapters in 220 pages each devoted to a different criminal case All but four take place during the 1970s and 1980s in Washington and Oregon the outliers are California the murder of actress Rebecca Schaeffer who was born in Oregon New Mexico Mississippi and Wisconsin Jeffrey Dahmer A couple of the accounts are a bit sketchy but for the most part the author strikes an excellent balance describing events succinctly but with enough detail to engage the reader I don t know if these chapters started life as articles in true detective magazines but they certainly read that way that s not a complaint I miss those old magazines The chapter titles even sound like the headlines used in such periodicals Pervert Used His Torture Kit on Krista Kinky Swingers Flung Their Sex Slave Off a Cliff Tamara Sent Her Stud to Snuff Her Ex 305 I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Crime scene investigation book This was a pretty decent true crime audiobook It did feel like it was centred around Oregon so I definitely learnt something because I knew literally nothing about Oregon before listening to this book Most of the cases discussed in this book were not well known and I hadn t heard about them from other true crime books so it felt quite refreshing to listen to this book My main gripe with this book was the narrator who spoke quite slowly I normally listen at 1.
