Katik king reviews 5 star reviewLife is all about second chances Copy provided by the author in exchange for a honest review Tammy Domingue Love Love Love it Bring on book 2 Tammy Domingue The two main female characters in Kate Kate and Gabby are ex cons who now flip expensive real estate for TV shows It s a great concept and could lead to all sorts of interesting conflicts even humorous ones but it unfortunately isn t exploited to its full extent in this erotic romance The overall tone is informal and conversational The setting is authentic and well described In fact this is the best part of the book It s obvious that the author knows the location well and enjoys painting a picture of it The narrative voice switches back and forth mostly between Kate and Bo but sometimes including Gabby Clay and other characters often with no separation or warning head hopping While Kate and Gabby seem fully realized characters Bo seems shallow and undeveloped Compared to the well imagined interesting female leads the male leads seem almost like foils there only to play specific roles with no real motivations of their own The ex wife is stereotypically screeching crazy ridiculous and with no apparent redeeming social value to explain why Bo married her in the first place Descriptions of the characters are often clinical with a run down of height weight hair color and eye color like a police bulletin Unfortunately there s virtually no plot A couple of times something happens but it s resolved almost immediately There s no tension or anticipation The book is filled with details of everyday life who answered the phone word for word recreations of texts back and forth in text speak pages of real estate decisions going to restaurants and wedding planning not to mention of course the obligatory graphic sex While the story follows a logical timeline the blow by blow day to day activities described in so much detail drag the pacing down It s almost like a diary.
