Due unto others scripture I m awed by the amount of research the writer did in writing this novel I know little about American history This book gave a precise account of what happened while creating a world that made me feel I was there Not once did I feel lost or confused The imagery was vivid and colorful The characters were believable and identifiable Without even trying the writer created characters you identified with Maybe I m not saying it clearly enough You lived the story through their eyes You experienced with them the hardships.

Breakthrough Novel Award sponsored by Publishers Weekly and Penguin semifinalist K F Jones is a former teacher He taught students with learning disabilities the thrill of discovery through history and literature Born in Louisiana the author now lives in North Carolina. Due Unto kindle Meh As an historical fiction lover I m used to and generally expect a John Jakes or James Michener type of story One with extensive research and fictional characters intricately interwoven This was a disappointment The first 3 4 of the book was almost solely fiction and the specific facts I wanted to learn the start of the Charleston AME church and the slave rebellion led by Vesey were discussed only in the last 1 4 if that I also had difficulty keeping characters straight for about the first 1 2 of the book Several characters recurred briefly with no apparent development making them not at all memorable I wouldn t recommend as a true historical fiction 396 I was gifted the book for an honest review. Book Due untools It s the first time I feel intimidated to give a review of a book I spent the whole weekend thinking how to do this book justice I will not give a full summary of the book It s much too complex and would take an essay In short this is the story of Denmark Vesey Telemaque loss and love You understood what drove Telemaque Other characters weren t forgotten and developed fully I especially liked Koi his childhood friend and Madame Chevalier She was his owner but became so much To me she was like his adoptive mother and I shed a tear when he told her he loved her I was amazed by this novel It gave me insight into American history while also weaving a tale of love and humanity I also appreciated the honesty of the novel It didn t attempt to downplay or exaggerate It s an emotional journey It s not one of those books I would easily forget. Du tog mit hjerte med I gave it five stars because of the amount of research the excellent way in which it was written the wonderful characters yes I hated Master Thomas and the unfolding storyline keeping me engaged. Historical Fiction Due untoward Telemaque became a hero and I think he would be pleased if he could read this book today I recommend it not only for anyone who loves historical novels but also anyone that appreciates love stories and those of us inspired by strong characters and plots that enrich your life K. Due Unto kindle unlimited F Jones is an extremely talented writer and I hope he has a lot to share with us in future 396
