Fun art in this nearly wordless book which has a letter scavenger hunt for lunch Hardcover The art is lovely but I m not sure I understand the point of this one Hardcover This was a slow starter took the boys a little while to grasp the concept and expand their acceptance of the magical realism A little lesson about cooking mixed with a little lesson about word building Hardcover Seemed rather pointless though trying to decipher a wordless book can be fun on occasion Hardcover Clever and imaginative tale of two young friends who are hungry but the cupboards are bare A list of letters bushes and trees holding the alphabet and two friends create a delicious meal Hardcover

This is a picture book without words for the most part Two kids are hungry for letters So they go out to the garden and the woods searching for every consonant in the alphabet What they can t find there they buy in the store When they get home and mix them all together they realize that it s missing something vowels They toss some in like spices and make something delicious Eh It was okay The art was nice at least Hardcover I dig the art in this almost wordless book with the collage and the white outlines Two kids are hungry but all they have in the cupboard is one C So they make a grocery list which letter savvy kids will notice is the alphabet without the vowels Some of the common letters like T and N can be picked in their own garden The market has many of the letters but not the exotic ones like J and Z These require a bit work to find When the kids get home with their letters and mix them in to make food something s just not right The vowels are like salt and pepper or spices essentials Hardcover This is a picture book without words and the layout is a lot like a comic book The book is a great addition for classrooms to inspire creative storytelling I especially like that the layout of the book because it challenges children to sequence the picture boxes on each page to understand the story s order of events That said this book is detailed and long For this reason I do not think the book is designed to interest all children For some children this book might become overwhelming and frustrating to get through because there is so much detail broken into so many separate boxes on each page Hardcover I didn t care for this book It was a wordless picture book about 2 kids who are hungry for lunch They end up going outside and to the market and collect letters specifically consonants along the way They end up at home and appear to eat a letter salad The condiments are the vowels I m not sure how many kids will get the story of the book To me it was somewhat pointless Hardcover Filled with lively illustrations created with cut paper and collage this wordless picture book follows a boy and girl as they seek sustenance After heading to the garden a store and the great outdoors they pluck consonants letters of the alphabet one by one finally locating z on the top of a hill After preparing a savory meal they enjoy playing with the letters and using them to form words But they need a dash of the vowels a e i o and u to make their meal taste better There s a lot going on in this picture book and readers will need to look at it carefully Hardcover.
