Let's play oblivion
Like it s companion volume Let s Celebrate the illustrations invite the reader in bright cheerful playful Perhaps inevitably there are sports than games represented Another good volume for primary school libraries 56 The games almost get lost among the tributes to various sports across the globe in this themed collection of poems about sports and games that are popular With 37 poems celebrating 30 playful endeavors the book certainly provides plenty of suggestions for what someone can do if he she is feeling bored Some of the poems will be familiar since they were written by folks such as John Masefield and Robert Louis Stevenson but others seem fresh because they are new Other entries are portions of poems previously published elsewhere The illustrations were created with watercolor pencils and collage and are interesting Little ones will especially relate to Kenn Nesbitt s The World s Fastest Bicycle and the author s longing to have those training wheels removed I like the idea of the book s focus but its contents are a bit uneven 56 There was some interest information I learned a few new things in this book but I didn t find any new poems that I especially liked The illustrations were good but nothing spectacular 56 Meh Could ve been better 56 Good anthology colorfully and cheerfully illustrated 56
