Lady beneath the veilv tv series Gideon has been running wild for several years after the deaths of his brother aunt and uncle in France cause his father to get very controlling As a result he finds himself caught in a not very funny practical joke His pride won t let him laugh it off and get the annulment right away and he quickly finds himself giving in to the attraction he feels for his new wife He has a hard time dealing with the fact she s half French to the point where he can t even use her name so he gives her a nickname He finds himself growing closer to her but advice from his father on the proper way to treat a wife makes him keep an emotional distance between them I loved seeing him develop stronger feelings for her even though he was fighting it all the way He kept telling himself that what he felt wasn t love but it got harder to convince himself when he found himself jealous of little things and also that he couldn t keep her off his mind I loved seeing him become a man worthy of her love rather than the one who was the butt of the joke I enjoyed the way that he found himself wanting to do things that would make her happy even to the point of helping her with the search for information about her father I loved the ending and seeing him fully accept his feelings for her Paperback I haven t finished a Harlequin book in a long time this one made it A very lovely reading likeable Heroine and Hero 4. Lady beneath the veilx book THE CHARACTERS Dominique was delightful She was sweet a little bit shy and capable of doing what a lady of that time ought to do She has a quiet strength and prepared to do what she can for her mother It was a martyr move for I don t think her mother would have approved of the deception She was of course guilty enough of her actions and in light of her crush on Gideon I think the idea of marriage to him is a little appealing Little because the woman has a heart of gold and I don t think she would want to hurt Gideon in that manner She was also naive in terms of her listening to the talk of other married women of her acquaintance on how to handle a husband Regardless I can t help but feel supportive of her I cheered her on when she ran out to Gideon when he was going to France She knows when not to let go of her pride and when to apologize which is lacking in some heroines that I find liking her as a heroine easy. Book lady beneath the veil pdf THE PLOT THE WRITING THE WHOLE SHEBANG It was good The plot may have been shared by many others but the way it was written gave me a delightful story to read It was not boring in the least The language and the way it was written was easy to understand The flow was good however I have a few misgivings on how the events were pieced together I think this was a critique on the editing for this one There are a few instances that I think the partition between events were to signal a change in POV but I was mistaken A change of scene perhaps I was proven to be wrong So how the hell was it divided I didn t figure it out till the end and I just made my best to understand it It was understanble yes but the constant confusion at the start made the reading a tiny bit stilted. Historical fiction lady beneath the veil book review The story of how the viscount s second son who became a heir when his big brother died in the hands of the french making him hate all things french was duped to marry a woman with a french heritage and how he overcame his prejudice towards her and came to love her was fascinating to read The author did pull off this one Their falling in love with each other was quite authentic It was great though as almost all regency books out there the hero does not want to acknowledge his love for the heroine He also has a lot of issues while the heroine has few of them I was happy to note that the book didn t became a story of his struggles to overcome them Yes in a way but it was written that I didn t even mind it Am I making sense Moving on the side story with Dominique s sister in law was a bit tedious at times for me I admit I don t quite like it On the other hand finding Dominique s father was a great side story to read about I thought he was dead and there s a chance that Dominique s mother would be paired with Gideon s father but he s alive so I was quite disappointed.
