French Toasted was the first novella I ve read in the series and I found it a relatively light read One of the characters is an alcoholic which brought a darker side to the novella for me because I don t find that a topic for hilarity I understood why the other reviewers so far found the writing amusing but the misadventure type of humor just didn t hit home for me I still enjoyed the story as a non humorous look at young people living abroad and trying to find their place Gwen Ellery
