Dark threshold kindle unlimited Rather than a gothic tale about Karla s peril this book is of a family saga with separate sections for different characters Set in the late 18th century at the time of the American Revolution there is a lot of quaint historical detail such as lighting candles with flints and using sand to blot the ink of a letter It s a long book and it drags a bit especially as there are very few important events or gripping set pieces There is a central mystery of who is menacing Karla but it s almost lost among long boring passages about the soldiers of the revolution and native Americans. Dark thresholdh hair The book does set up an expectation of intrigue with one main character remaining absent for a very long time and only returning with just a single chapter to go Because of this I was expecting a fiery climax however the author delivers the opposite with a real flop of an ending that completely ignores the key dilemma of the story that we have been reading about for 300 pages As a result of that I would say the time I invested in reading this books was a complete waste The cover painting Popular Library paperback is a knockout but sadly it has nothing to do with the story 0445032278
