With the flanks of the Wolf s Maw falling one by one now the ominous fortress itself is in the crosshairs of a dual threat of Canton allies Lead by new forms of weapon s technology canton rebels are willing to risk countless lives for one last chance at freedom And with Walter Tell literally climbing the walls of the Wolfsmund it seems inevitable that the barrier station will fall But before that happens Wolfsram will unleash than a few devious tricks from his already deep arsenal Wolfsmund Volume 4Well crafted in terms of the story this manga is telling Perhaps best installment yet in those terms 260 Unlike the first three volumes of the series Wolfsmund volume 4 does not take a character centered approach to telling its story Actually that s a little disingenuous Technically it still has elements of that formula but there is enough focus on the current siege situation that the chapters no longer feel like vignettes for character back story so much as they are a means to move forward the action While I thoroughly enjoyed the vignettes of the past it was also refreshing to have a straightforward action storyline to follow this time It helps to change up the pacing of the story while at the same time still giving the readers the usual sacrificed side character in addition to some additional information about the Duke. Wolfsmund, Volume 4 kindle app The opening chapter of the volume is a little different from any other It s set before the current action period back when the pass was originally being built The supernatural elements of it add a new wrinkle to the story particularly to Wolfram He bothered me through the second and third volumes because he was just a vile human being However this added element suggests that perhaps he s an incarnation of a demon While I liked that the story did not include magical before this concept makes Wolfram a little palatable to me If Kuji will not humanize him in any way then literally demonizing him seems to be the best alternative path. Wolfsmund volume 4h holt Kuji does an excellent job of keeping the action flowing and making it clear what is actually happening in each scene So often action scenes in manga are stylized to the point that it s nearly impossible to figure out what is going on Kuji s persistent use of panels as well as clear art lets the images stand alone in showing what is happening However she also make good use of voice and thought bubbles to add further context to her art which just makes everything flow together Perhaps it s too simplified for some readers tastes but I certainly appreciate it.
