Site_link post a commentDon t Mess With the Monsters has a good idea for all parents that are looking for creative ideas to get their young children to clean their room Carmit Kegan has written a delightful book with beautiful pictures complete with patterns to make the game dice to play the game in the book to get children cleaning In my preschool room it would work for our block area with all the colored blocks when children are reluctant to clean The monsters disappeared with the mess in little Johnny s room thanks to the cleaver game Dad created I liked that the author made cleaning a family activity too This is a great children s book for parents and preschool teachers alike Carmit Kagan A lovely story for little kids My 5 year old enjoyed it Nicely illustrated too Carmit Kagan Carmit Kagan has created a wonderful children s book with a clever original idea It is also well illustrated by Abira Das with simple and colorful pictures that easily capture and holds a child s attention The book addresses a behavioral problem that is common to many families most certainly mine As a bonus the book presents a game complete with instructions on how to recreate the tools used in the book that will work to correct such a problem Most of us have a Johnny living in our house a little one with far too many toys and an unwillingness to clean up after himself herself Everyday Johnny s mother asks him to clean up his mess before bedtime and he tells her that he will do it later Every night after a bedtime story his patient mother tucks him and Johnny drifts off to sleep He awakens night after night seeing monsters in his room and calls for his mother The monsters are shadows of his toys left on his floor cast on the wall Every time Johnny awakens frightened his mother shows him the source of the monster and remedies the problem by putting the toy back in its proper place After talking it over with her husband Johnny s father devises a game called GO which stands for Get Organized This is a simple dice game that consists of a multicolored dice and a numbered dice To play the game they toss both dice and match a number on one dice to the color on the other and that designates the color and number of toys that should be picked up and put away All three play this fun new game and within a short time Johnny s room is clean I love that the game has been designed based on a passage from Johnny s favorite bedtime story another children s book by Carmit Kagan that quotes an old owl s wisdom Any problems you have be they big or small If you remember to have fun You can solve them all Carmit has created a fun entertaining book that teaches children important lessons while focusing on the context of family working together to achieve a goal This is an excellent book that I highly recommend for you and the little Johnny in your life I m just sad that I didn t think up this game first Please check us out at Griffin s Honey Carmit Kagan
