This ARC was provided by Kensington Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review Initially I was intrigued by the plot but the I read of the book the I became disinterested Nick has had the hots for his assistant McCall since they began working together years ago and vice versa However it took a ridiculous charity auction for him to finally put the moves on her Not sure why exactly Nick is used to always getting his way with women for the most part but somehow McCall throws him for a loop because she doesn t fall for his typical playboy maneuvers McCall has her own problems including the recent passing of her mother and financial woes The summary of the book made it seem like there would be cohesive drama but it turned out not be the case Throw in a random trip to an island meddling relatives a secret inheritance a sexually abusive past a ghost on a couch and McCall s constant whining about how the she and Nick come from completely different worlds and I ended up rushing through the book just to mark it as read I couldn t relate to the characters because they ended up both whining about trivial first world problems and fighting their romance for no apparent reason Also if McCall was the only one from Texas why was almost every character speaking in Southernisms And McCall s incessant use of the nickname slugger for Nick grated my nerves Quick read but not convinced it was worth the time and energy 203 The Tycoon and The Texan was a fun modern yet old fashion western romance Let me explain It had all the modern conveniences of today cell phones Lear jets and other gadgets But McCall Johnson was anything but a modern girl she was a born and raised Texas born girl from out on the range Where Nick Dartmouth her boss or should I say her old boss and the son or her current boss Madeline and together they find things that work. The tycoon and the texany book I was actually surprised to see that this book was published by eKensington it really smacked of a Harlequin to me Lots of drama rich vs poor the male character becoming human etc The high drama read emotional outbursts that equaled me in a menopausal hormonal rage got to be a bit annoying and I don t know if it was just my mood at the time I started to read the book or not but I actually ended up setting it aside for a few weeks then picking it back up to finish Once I got past those first few chapters I did start to get drawn into the story but for some reason it just didn t grab ME might be different for YOU at first There are some really cute portions of Nick learning McCall s Texas traditions slang and a few chuckles can be had with a fishing hook. The tycoon and the texan cast P 53 a bellow of mist 203 I am giving The Tycoon and the Texan a three star because there were a number if good qualitues in the story I really want to like it but it just doesn t feel right It is hard to explain the premise is good but I kept getting confused The transitions were choppy and I kept lossing track of what was happening and why Nick would walk into the office say something then walk out without any purpose the back in again A conversation would be started then conflict itself before it ended The characters were interesting but not fully developed It was almost like the storyteller was on a mind altering drug at the time Not inferring any disrespect to Ms Miranda as I don t beieve it was deliberate When a person is depressed or on some meds what appears to make perfect sense to you doesn t to anyone else. The tycoon and the texany book I was so thoroughly engrossed in this fabulous story and with the shock I had to see what was about to happen next This is truly a special romance between Nick McCall that just warmed my heart The conclusion is spectacular and heartfelt. The tycoon and the texanw writing 203 I would consider this book a beach vacation read A light read take in the story as it comes type of book It was a quick predictable light romance with a nice sweet story to go along with it This was a semi original storyline about a rich man who was already in love with a girl he spent the entire book trying to convince her that he was the one for her He was rich she wasn t If I analyze the story too muchI find myself nit picking silly points so I quit absorbing the book took it as it came The addition to a past trauma in McCall s female lead life seemed to be written in as an attempt at making this book a deeper read It did not do that for me. The tycoon and the texan full book I did like this book but I wasn t a lover But at times I hunt for this type of quick read if I m looking for something I don t want to invest my soul in I m not sure if that makes sense But the best way I can describe a soul investing book is one that you re still thinking about the characters like they are real long after you finish the book This one didn t leave me that way at all 203
