Crescent city magick book pdf
Three muggers take advantage of his drunkenness and beat the crap out of him Clay is saved by an odd young woman by the name of Julia and her bevy of cats It s clear there is something magical about her and her cats and it isn t long until we discover that she considers herself a witch She takes Clay under her wing like a lost pet and he soon meets her equally odd friends who live on the fringes of society His flashbacks rear their ugly head again and it appears he was once abducted by aliens But that s not all New Orleans is rife with magical creatures and mysticism and Clay and Julia are right in the middle of it But the question is is it just New Orleans or are all these supernatural beings drawn to Clay and Julia for some reason Written and illustrated by Michael L Peters.

CRESCENT CITY MAGICK is an urban fantasy Graphic novel set in New Orleans Clayton Woods newly arrived to New Orleans and on the run from forces he doesn t understand is aided by Julia a self proclaimed witch who is convinced Clayton has the makings of a hero Clayton suspects Julia may be crazy Crescent City Magick Welcome to New OrleansCrescent City Magick has a lot going for it Colorful characters intriguing situations and some fantastic artwork As a stand alone book it s a little thin raising lots of questions but not answering very many But it s clearly meant to be the first chapter of a longer tale and it definitely left me eager to see . Kindle crescent city magick reddit Clayton Woods is in sad shape when we meet him Out of work depressed haunted by some unspecified childhood trauma and apparently being stalked by mysterious figures or is he just paranoid He winds up in New Orleans where he meets Julia a spirited young lady with a talent for witchcraft Julia believes against all appearances that Clayton is destined for greatness and together they start exploring the mysteries and dangers lurking in the shaodws of the Crescent City. Pdf crescent city magick pdf You can see where this relationship is going Clayton is morose and uptight Julia is the optimistic free spirit who s going to save him from himself But Julia with her southern drawl and blunt sense of humor is a charmer nonetheless And reading between the lines her agenda may not be entirely selfless There s lots of room for exploration and growth for both characters and I m interested in seeing where the story goes. Crescent full moon symbol The real selling point here is the artwork Michael Peters dedicates the book to classic comic book illustrators like Barry Windsor Smith and Mike Kaluta and that association isn t just wishful thinking on his part The pages are filled to the brim with beautiful evocative details and even the most mundane street scene is a visual feast Peters has clearly poured his heart and soul into this book and it s well worth your attention Paperback Michael L Peters Crescent City Magick Welcome To New Orleans is a beautifully illustrated urban fantasy tale that s not only rich in imagery but also in its dimensional characters Even secondary characters brief as their appearances might be have unique voices and memorable designs reflecting the vividness and colour of the setting New Orleans We also get a variety of supernatural presences including the very easy going and charming Julia self proclaimed witch who keeps things on an even keel for the distressed but physically capable Clayton hero in waking who s yet to understand that he s than neck deep in the irrational paranormal world Without giving anything away we get a hefty amount of danger good old fashioned fisticuffs a nice dose of horror and an enjoyable team relationship realistically forming all wrapped up in the end with an air of expectancy but one that s satisfying. Crescent city magick book pdf Peters as an illustrator has a deft and loving hand whether it s for old or young characters the muscular Clayton or the fey like charm of Julia Besides his intricate illustrations his sequential storytelling is a pleasure to take in as he cuts no corners on panel detail Imagery influenced by the best in Pre Raphaelite Celtic and Art Nouveau styles as an admirer of all these schools of art I feel I ve landed a visual treasure in Crescent City Magick Peters storytelling with narrative and dialogue is spot on as well smooth and clear so that you re free to enjoy the tale being told A satisfying addition to my and anyone s visual collection here s hoping Peters will have the opportunity to do Paperback Lovingly drawn and a good first start though the dialogue harks back to 80s comics to me granted people have said that about my own writing It flirts with some irksome tropes is the protagonist really a Chosen One Is the primary female character really a Manic Pixie Dream Girl and future volumes will hopefully prove me wrong Paperback Clay Woods is on the run from someone or something Or is he really trying to run away from himself Driven by this nagging fear that if he doesn t keep moving something bad will happen he spends his last dollar only to wind up in the Big Easy otherwise known as New Orleans One has to wonder if Clay has jumped from the frying pan into the fire. Crescent city magicky yugioh Desperate for cash Clay works construction until he has enough money to move on but ends up spending it at a bar and drinking way too much It s not long before he has what appears to be a panic attack over what could be a flashback and he flees Unfortunately this is a lovely book with well drawn art and well developed characters I particularly liked the diversity of the characters on numerous levels race gender age socio economic status and possibly sexual orientation The story moves along at a nice pace and we get a sense of who Clay and Julia are almost immediately There is no wasted moment here However the whole alien abduction thing did put me off a bit Mr Peters has chosen a city that is so rich in culture and magic I felt that having Clay an abductee was unnecessary I think his inner demons could have been better served if they were grounded in nature and could have been used as subtext for all the magic and mayhem going on around him Julia is a fun and very self confident woman who believes in herself and her magic She comes across as a little ditzy but she clearly has a better understanding of the world than most of us do. Pdf crescent city magick download I loved the cover art so I was initially disappointed that the book itself was in black and white However as I read it I decided that it suits the story and I know it s cost effective I also appreciated the clarity of how the story is laid out One of my pet peeves is stopping on a page and going What just happened or Did I miss something and having to go back and try to find what may or may not have been missing You also get a great feel for those who live under the radar, Crescent city mystics All in all Crescent City Magick is a most enjoyable book with terrific art Paperback
