EPub Emerson's atticus finch
Well written book that I enjoyed It s fun and imaginative I appreciate that it s not full of angst and darkness as so many children and young adult books are these days This is exactly the kind of book I will be recommending to my granddaughters at this age and the kind of book that makes kids like to read I received this book through Netgalley and I appreciated the opportunity to read it and give it an honest review Paperback I had the privilege of meeting Kathleen Andrews Davis while at a writing conference a few months ago where she handed me a copy of her book series Emerson s Attic. PDF Emerson's attic ladder This review is of the first book in the series Emerson s Attic called The Blue Velvet This book captivated me within the first few pages As a middle grade book my first review for this age group I found myself wanting As Emerson is reeled back into time I m reminded of the TV show Downton Abby and the staff that make the house and show a great success Emerson is your typical teenager with technology being a staple in her life When she is punished for an argument and forced to clean the hot.
Attic insulation ideas
Emerson McBride is a normal American teenager She goes to school plays soccer and roams the mall with friends Her life is just like that of any other 14 year old s until she is sent to clean the attic in the old Victorian as punishment for fighting with her younger brother Suddenly she is thrown back in time to a totally foreign world Frightened and armed only with dreams of her grandfather Emerson ventures into the unknown How did she get here Who are these people Who is she and why is she here These questions and many follow Emerson into a new life in a new land Emerson s Attic The Blue Velvet Attic 1 Its never too late Thats my new motto As a semi retired grandmother I felt incomplete and wanted Amazing what becoming a grandparent does to you I decided to leave our granddaughter a legacy of words and a simple idea turned into Emersons Attic The Blue Velvet I live with my husband in the mountains of central Pennsylvania where I have put all my other interests on hold so that I can write Its taken a very long time but I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow upan author. EBook Emerson's attico Id love to hear from you It s never too late That s my new motto As a semi retired grandmother I felt incomplete and wanted Amazing what becoming a grandparent does to you I decided to leave our granddaughter a legacy of words and a simple idea turned into Emerson s Attic The Blue Velvet I live with my husband in the mountains of central Pennsylvania where I have put all my other interests on hold so that I can write It s taken a very long time but I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow upan author. Science Fiction Emerson's attic fan I d love to hear from you site_link I really enjoyed the book Emerson s Attic The Blue Velvet I like the unique name Emerson I think that it is especially funny when Emerson the main character thinks to herself for example Why is it always Emerson Amelia McBride when I m in trouble and Emerson when I m not I laughed at this and I think you will too if you read it. Attic insulation ideas I did find it a tad odd how Emerson traveled back and forth through time without touching the hat that got her there in the first place again Also I would have liked to know what the fight with her brother was about and why did she get punished and not her brother how is that fair Other than that I give this book 4. Emerson's atticus Book read and reviewed by 10 year old Paperback Thank you Goodreads for this beautiful book First I loved the cover art it drew me to the book and made me want to read it I found the story to be charming and definitely one that i can share with my grandchildren The plot kept my interest the characters are engaging and nicely developed the mystery clever when it was over i wanted to read Paperback Thank you Goodreads First reads and Kathleen Andrews Davis for this adorable book It grabs you at the beginning and won t let go When it ends your almost sad to see it end Great book as a read aloud for children and a great book for children teens and adults alike Cute characters nice action great mystery and interestingly inventive plot line Thanks Paperback This is a review on behalf of my girlfriend who I won this book for through Goodreads First of all she apologises for taking so long to getting round to reading it I m reading it now so I may well edit my review onto this too. Emerson's attic book review The book was thoroughly entertaining and well written Emerson s voice could be heard very well through the writing When the next book comes out or available I m sure the girlfriend will be looking forward to that Paperback I won this book on first reads This is an excellent book for kids and adults alike This book grabs you from the beginning and you hate to see the story end Can t wait to read the next book Paperback Aww I just loved this It reminded me a little of one of my favourite books Charlotte Sometimes Both Emerson and Charlotte mysteriously traveled back in time and took the place of someone who they looked exactly the same as so nobody else in that time had any reason to suspect they weren t that person Although Emerson managed to travel across space as well as time going from her 21st century home in the US to a Victorian manor house where suddenly she s one of the maids. PDF Emerson's attic ladder It seemed her reason for traveling back in time was to foil the kidnapping of Genevieve but that just makes me wonder if she rewrote and fixed history by doing that like with the TV series Mirror Mirror however I don t believe so since it turned out that Genevieve was her great great grandmother so I m not sure why she had to go back in time but perhaps that s not something I m meant to overthink It was seriously awesome either way and maybe the only point was for her to not take everything for granted so much And it was a fun era for her to go back to from a reader s point of view at least not so much fun for her with all the chores she had to do I m definitely interested to read in this series even if I m probably twice the target age group This one was good fun and a quick and compelling read just so enjoyable for a lazy afternoon Paperback What would you do if you were suddenly transported back in time Emerson McBride is a normal teenager sent to the clean the attic because of some mischief her brother had gotten her into Not thrilled to be in the dusty dirty attic she begins exploring and finds a beautiful velvet hat Before she can figure out what happened she s living the life of a maid in a manor house 200 years before in England Emerson struggles to figure out how to live in a time without all the modern conveniences she s use to how to live without her family and how to live as a servant She s also like to figure out how to get back to her own time The longer she lives in this time however the she s sure something sinister is going on in the house. Emerson's Attic pdf editor This book is written for an audience of about 8 12 year olds I believe It is an engaging dirty attic Emerson finds herself rummaging through items that where once the objects of enjoyment to older generations In her process of cleaning she finds a trunk that houses a blue velvet hat Out of curiosity and glamour Emerson places the hat on her head and admires the old fashion style Next thing you know she s taken off into a world in which she doesn t know or understand But Emerson has little problems adjusting to this new world With Lizzy s help Emerson is able to navigate enough through the strange world without too many slip ups of the 21st century mindset she holds Emerson travels for a reason but to understand the reason she must understand and grow with the story Davis does a great job of incorporating the young old new and historic together in this story line I found that changing my mind set back to being a young kid helped me understand the writing style than anything As an adult the mystery of the book felt empty with extreme detail missing however for a tween these details most likely would mean nothing to the reader Adult books feel much in depth vs middle grade but then again I can barely remember actually loving books at that age This is a great book that dives the reader into many different genres mystery suspense and time travel a way to build the young readers interest on numerous levels and having them want . Emerson's attic book pdf At the end of the book I wanted to know about Emerson and her adventures it s a good thing too because Davis has a second book to the Emerson s Attic series Smoke Mirrors available now Paperback I won this book from GoodReads through the First Reads program A huge thank you to the Author for signing my copy and sending it to me so quickly This was a very cute book with a recommended age range of about 8 13 Even though I am quite a bit older than the target audience I still thoroughly enjoyed this book It was full of action and adventure yet was innocent without many of the themes of pre teen and teen literature that turn me off of some books I did notice a few inconsistencies both in historical accuracy and in the story lines There seemed to be a few holes left at the end of the story that left me asking but what about That being said this was one book I had trouble setting down I read it in only a few hours and would be happy to pass this book on to my young nieces or stop son It grabs your attention and keeps it throughout the book Overall this is a great book Well written and cute story Paperback The Blue Velvet is an exciting tale that takes readers on a thrilling adventure back in time to a mysterious home with secret passageways a one eared stranger and a startling kidnapping. Emerson's attic kindle edition While being forced to clean the attic as punishment Emerson discovers an old trunk As Emerson examines the trunk s contents she begins to feel lightheaded and passes out When she awakens she finds she s no longer in the attic and suddenly people are referring to her as Emma Emerson thinks it s all just a bad dream but is it The Blue Velvet is an imaginative well penned story that shifts seamlessly between the 1800 s and present day Readers are pulled into the past right along with the main character and the interesting events that unfold as a result are captivating I highly recommend picking up a copy Paperback
