Teacher's pet pretty boy com 20 88 I hesitated about adding it to my humor shelf and decided against it because the humor fell flat for me The original picture books were a lot funnier Maybe if Meddaugh was doing this series it would have worked This has all the original elements alphabet soup including alphabet soup in Spanish Martha can speak any language if given alphabet soup in that language humans who don t seem to register that a dog is speaking and treat Martha like a person etc The kids seem aware that Martha is a dog often the adults don t seem too sure Martha doesn t show the slightest interest in the cat report but loves the not previously written dog report This was ok reading and I could see the series being useful for reluctant readers who like dogs Otherwise meh I won t be reading of the series unless Meddaugh writes them 88
