Magic and suspense in there to keep me intrigued I loved it couldn t put it down As soon as I had finished this one I lined up the next three books in the series on my Kindle I m now on book four Thank you Cassidy Very well written and thoroughly enjoyable Mike 166 Love the twist to the time travel conceptLet me start by stating that yes the concept of time travel is in the book but it s not like the typical style where within the first couple of chapters the main character is either swept forward or backward through time and you read through their struggles and adapting to the new environment This story is about a family.

Grad student and cocktail waitress Evelyn Merkholtz has plenty to deal with Too much to deal with So when her runaway best friend calls with a mysterious and urgent request to join her in Scotland she is secretly than happy to drop everything and oblige She s faced with an ancient curse an adorably hunky villager and a super hot but possibly murderous Highland warrior from the 18th century and realizes that getting burned at the stake is a really bad way to get out of writing her thesis Lost Highlander Lost Highlander 1 I m a bit past 50% through the book now and it s finally starting to pick up but I wanted to mention the first half of the book now before I forget. Lost highlander kindle pdf Nothing really happens the entire first half of the book Like seriously We learn that Evelyn works at a strip club to put herself through grad school I could have done without the strip club scene though it wasn t raunchy Then she travels to Scotland to help her best friend Piper who inherited her like great grandmother s estate and her billions who is having an problem so dire that she flies her friend out the next day without even letting her make arrangements with her work and schooling essentially And then when she gets there they don t really do anything It s hard to tell how much time is passing but considering there is a displaced highlander in Piper s castle who may or may not be a murderer they spend a hell of a lot of time eating sleeping talking about how exhausted they are crying for no reason I could distinguish and I m sort of a cry baby but emotions just didn t seem high AT ALL when the ladies take turns having cry fests and sitting around reading irrelevant documents Oh and discussing how time travel books could maybe have been true stories the authors published as fiction Because that s the real reason Evelyn was brought over because she s an expert in time travel books cuz that s a good enough reason to bring her into the story That doesn t seem like a contrived reason to have her meet Sam AT ALL Oh and Piper seems to be falling in love with the highlander who I was still suspicious was a murderer remember Lachlan but because this takes place off screen the reader can t really grasp the emotion of the romance which I really WANT to because I love highlanders but I can t due to the way it s written It just sort of pops up randomly and suddenly with no explanation If it s meant to be a double love story we need scenes from Evelyn s AND Piper s points of view O K Finished the book today Did you know that the way to determine whether or not a guy is The One is to ask him if he s ever been to a strip club If he says no he s The One Because apparently these guys are so rare Yeah I don t even know I agree that step clubs are awful and I d never have dreamed of marrying a guy who went to those places but that s your ONLY criterion Except that when she confesses about her job you can tell he thinks it s sexy she might be a stripper And I don t see how that s any better Whatever Oh and Evelyn and Sam go back in time to sleep together That was pretty much the only purpose as far as I could tell And Piper sleeps with Lachlan with no objection from him AT ALL Though if he somehow magically loves her he should have at least given a token s protest about propriety after he killed someone with an axe and is covered in blood And not even shower sex Sex outside in the freezing cold on the ground behind a shrubbery Mmmm Sexy Freezing cold outdoor bloody sex has always been a favorite of mine too barfs I still don t even understand how they ve managed to fall in love in the first place Seems awfully random to me Overall the writing was just so meh with the emphasis in all the wrong places sleeping eating etc see above and not on important things like relationship development or a good reason why any of this crap was happening in the first place If Ms Cayman had an editor she needs to find a new one who isn t related to her and who will give actual honest feedback about writing pacing plot and character development and not just Squeeeee I love Lachlan He s soooo hawt Also I read a few spoilers about future books Wow SOOOOO NOT INTERESTED 166 EDITED BECAUSE I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THIS WAS MY 1000TH BOOK FOR 2018 BOOYAAAH GRANDMA Okay I m done and going back to reading Lost Highlander was one of those books I picked to read listen to because of a certain reading challenge It was an okay kind of audio. EPub Lost highlander 2 I got this for free on my Kindle by just browsing through they were having a special This was entry 5 in Carmen Downloads 20 Free Ebooks Onto Her Kindle Day More widely known as March 3rd 2015 166 Lame so slow and the heroines were just whiny and annoying It picked up towards the end but definitely not worth buying I did not like this on at all 166 This book was bad I feel like the author was trying to do a variation on the classic romance novel which I guess is laudable but it just didn t work She gives us an alpha couple in Piper and the hot time lost stud that could have propelled the story forward and then doesn t show us anything about them mentioning them only peripherally and preferring to focus on the beta couple who has zero chemistry and negative interesting ness I believe Piper and Time Stud get their own spotlight in book 2 of this series but ugh who can make it to book 2 I could barely struggle through book 1. Lost horizon highlander the one live The premise of this story makes no sense Why would Piper want Evie to come all the way to Scotland to help her Because she reads time travel romances REALLY THAT is Piper s rationale On what planet does that remotely make sense Like if I read a lot of romance novels about sexy firemen does that qualify me to BE a fireman firewoman How about if I watch House or Grey s Anatomy can I now perform surgery on people Cuz if it s just that simple I could use a better paycheck. Highlander lost horizon meme Characterization is negligible we re told that Evie is surprisingly hot cuz everyone knows you re not supposed to be smart AND pretty don t you know attractive people are dumb as bricks and smart people are hideous and that she s a graduate student and are left to our own devices to scrape up a picture of her personality from that We re not given any scenes showing us her character her values anything really She s about as fleshed out as a department store mannequin Same with her love interest what s his name We re told he s Scottish and owns a bookstore That s it YAWN Pacing is sluggish dialogue fails to excite time travel a castle in Scotland and their legacy The castle is inherited by an American who does not know about her family heritage While she is there a Highlander mysteriously shows up lost at what to do so she has her best friend come to help The best friend is who you follow through the story The majority of the book is spent trying to figure out how and why he is here and how to get him back During this other events unfold others inadvertently get swept back in timeetc. Highlander saison 3 episode 1 It was a very well written story though I do not understand why the author gave the opening character the job she didwaitress is fine just don t know why it had to be at a strip club 166 The Lost Highlander was better than I expected I was curious about this series as every time I looked up my books on I get the message customers who bought this item also bought and Cassidy Cayman s books come up Now at first I just thought these were some trashy romance and bad history yet the Lost Highlander surpassed my expectations I love a good timetravel story and this one didnt dissapoint The story was well developed and kept me interested all the way through and I was very envious of Piper to inherit a large fortune and a scottish castle full of antiques complete with its own library not too mention the full wine cellar and secret passages don t get me started Again all I can say is this was thoroughly enjoyable way better than I thought maybe it was the book covers that threw me well maybe the other book covers 166.
