Dust Pan girlgames Dust Pan GirlA YOUNG GIRL IS STABBED IN THE DARK BY HER OWN FATHER HER MOTHER RACES HER TO THE HOSPITAL ONLY TO FIND OUT SHE IS OKAY SHE SAVED HERSELF BY CARRYING HER MOST PRIZED POSSESSION AN OLD METAL DUSTPAN THAT SHE LOVES TO PLAY WITH IN HER COAT THE STORY BRINGS TO THE SMALL TOWN OF HOOD RIVER OREGON A CON MAN OF UNQUESTIONABLE SKILL Dust Pan GirlThe premise was relatable and there was a lot of pull in from the culture at the time in the area Unfortunately I found everyone to be caricature than character Rather than complex each character was very predictable This detracted from the suspense for me and made the ending a little lackluster James Fox Third Grade HERO to the RESCUEThis is a very cute story about a young girl who is either born to be great or called upon to become great The basic storyline of the book is endearing and sweet although convoluted with so many villains and sideline mischief it is at times almost impossible to follow The basic principal of the story seems to send a mixture of messages the good guys win but the bad guys are never the less always in abundance and ever plotting no matter how young they may be to do rotten things to the unsuspecting unselfish people of the world. Dust Pan girlgonegrilling While the main character a young girl whose given name is Comet seems to be extremely smart sometimes advanced for her age and almost fearless I am left wondering how she came to be that way when her mother seemed to be afraid to speak up for her own or her daughter s well being. Dust Pan girling This absolutely could have been a most endearing story had the author either been better able to spin all the background info in or had left a good deal of the circus out of the story Then there is the writing style in and of itself It felt amateurish as if it were being told by person in jr high with aspirations of the story becoming a movie not only was the book rife with sentence structure damage and typos too many to count Almost EVERY PAGE almost every paragraph but the author would jump from telling the story in third person narrator to suddenly having one of the characters describing the events first person without a smooth transition between the two methods I felt as if I needed to be reading a manuscript of a book novel so I could hold a big red marker to correct all of the mistakes Also at times it was appear to be being told by a bystander in past tense At 223 pages the story should have been a fairly quick read but was so polluted that it took twice as long to read It should have been cut back to half that length and even then to be narrated differently and most assuredly edited and proofed before publication. Dust Pan girlalmightytv Many times the individuals within the story did not talk aloud but instead we the readers were privy to their inner thoughts which it seemed to me was meant to serve as the means of telling the story but again it was executed very poorly This could have been made to be an excellent tool in the book but it came off instead as amateurish or drunken. Dust Pan girling home All in all the story had such great potential that I kept reading it to the bitter end to make certain that Comet AKA Dust Pan Girl made it out of the story alive I found myself rooting for her all the while cringing at the way the story was told Not the story itself simply the way it was told with all of the unending mistakes in the writing of it. Dust Pan girley I have read several of the lower point reviews and noted that the author James Fox kept repeating how his editor did a horrid job there is no publisher nor editor listed on the book page and that the book was meant to be read as if it were a soap opera it reads like a second rate circus act yet he made typos and grammar mistakes in his comments under the name of Mickey and based on having read the book for myself I know when I see that someone has allowed themselves to get in a hurry in their writing I truly do hope for the sake of the story the readers and the author that he fires his editor and gets his money back plus slows down next time he writes a book enough to write it then sit on it a week or two THEN go back through it himself to proofread before he sends it off to an editor This story had SUCH GREAT potential it saddens me that it was nearly ruined by the chaos of the telling of it and all of the problems in grammar typos. Dust Pan girlhefunny I note at the bottom of the cover it states Book One Puppets and as such I assume there are to be others in a series In all sincerity I truly hope the author is able to adjust his writing and find a decent proofreader AND editor before the next book comes out as there is so much LEFT to be told based on the many characters crammed into this one book that it would be a travesty if the future books were as difficult to read as this There was such a great story lurking within this it is hard for me to believe it was left untold or told as sloppily as it had been James Fox I only give it three stars because despite being difficult to put down I did predict just about every movement every character made To be fair I have an obnoxious habit of doing that that said I hold respect for those stories that catch me off guard and am always searching for them Dust Pan Girl was impossible to put down I read it quickly ended up blowing off other day to day activities because I simply needed to keep reading despite feeling that I knew what was going to happen I did have a need to keep reading and find out For those who can simply enjoy a book without those annoying predicting thoughts coming at them all the while you will likely rate this 4 5 stars and I highly recommend it either way I do anxiously await the rest of the series as I do enjoy this writer and will seek of his work. Dust Pan girlee's I posted a review on he replied seemed to be quite offended by my remarks I do apologize if this review is offensive but I am told by my author friends to ALWAYS post honest spoiler free reviews and that is what I try to do Mr Fox as I said it was predictable but I enjoy your writing and want to see Readers read this It s a great read predictable or not James Fox
