Dead low tide book Without giving anything away the story centers on a case of a zombie woman who kidnaps the protagonist s sister as he s investigating the sighting for an online ezine that specializes in the paranormal The story has quite a few interesting twists and turns In many ways this book reminds me of a middle grade cozy mystery Paperback Dead Low Tide is an engaging horror adventure which YA readers should enjoy I liked the way the author presents each terror in a way that the impossible seems probable until the hero of the story proves otherwise There are plenty of twists and turns and surprises along the way I couldn t give it five stars because in a couple places I lost track of who did what when and why which left me feeling as if there were some gaps in the story telling A couple typos spotted Paperback In Dead Low Tide teen Nick Caden and his family are in Savannah for a few days while his father is interviewing for a real estate job Nick s mother is convinced is a scam While Mom and Dad are out to dinner with the real estate folks Nick and his sister Wendy are investigating the site of an alleged zombie appearance Nick working on his article for the Cool Ghoul Gazette loses sight of a bored Wendy who ends up being abducted by someone or something who looks exactly like the alleged zombie Initially Nick s parents are frantic over their daughter s disappearance but soon come to accept the theory of Officer McDonald that Wendy s a runaway hanging out with friends Nick knows better and continues the investigation with the help of new friend Kat who seems to keep showing up suspiciously This book far exceeded my expectations as an adult reading middle grade fiction and shame on me for starting it with the idea that the story might be predictable or the characters obnoxiously immature Nick may be clever and logical thinking and speaking in a adult manner than a stereotypical average teen however I appreciate an author who doesn t dumb down a character for his intended audience just as I appreciated Christopher Pike whose work is similar to this when I was a middle grade reader Well done Mr Jones well done I was so hooked that I fully intend to seek out this author s other works and you should too Paperback I have to admit Eddie Jones Monster Mysteries series has been my guilty pleasure this spooky season Each book is a quick read highly entertaining and often have a few great action scenes that really get the blood pumping Even if each book is very light on character development and sometimes the spiritual connections are intriguing conversation starters these books are all about the atmosphere Jones can create atmosphere in under 200 pages than I have ever seen in any other series. Dead low tideh heute Dead Low Tide book number three sets up fun and creepy action for Nick Caden as his family spends a short vacation on an island off the Carolinas while his dad interviews for a new job However things get rolling along right from the beginning as Nick s sister Wendy is zombie napped It s not until Nick starts getting messages from a dead girl that the pieces begin to fall into place And when the dust settles zombies will be the least of Nick s worries. Dead horse bay low tide The mystery and storytelling are a little tighter here than in the first two books of the series however as with the previous books there are also moments with a few logic leaps that make sense in retrospect but definitely left me scratching my head as to how Nick was able to piece it together There is genuine danger in the story and for parents to note there are also a couple of moments where the author makes veiled references to teenage partying that has gotten out of hand This book in particular has definitely moved up to the Young Adult category There is also mention of a date rape drug at one point which if younger readers are encountering this book might bring up some conversations and questions. Dead low tidei in All said Dead Low Tide had some great atmosphere that left me checking the darker corners of the room a couple times before settling back into the story If you re looking for a fun and easy spooky read this season this is one that will definitely scratch the itch Paperback
