Plus I m always a sucker for some POC representation which we get throughout the book Nephilim Awakening has a great balance of fantasy and religious mythology that doesn t try and shove any particular religious beliefs on you which I can always appreciate The writing was done really well and for the most part flowed together nicely with equal parts plot and world building as well as a great dose of action The only problems I really had was with the fight scenes near the ends the writing got jumbled together and with each character having multiple names identities it gets really confusing almost to the point where I was tempted to skip over the fights scenes which kind of sucked because I love me some action I feel like the author needs to step back and get better control over the characters and the multiple identities. Book Nephilim awakening blox The characters were all really well written they had depth but still left a lot of room for growing in hopefully future books I really enjoyed Kiran the most she was a great protagonist and I just enjoyed following her on her journey throughout the plot The plot was fun and interesting I love the balance between religion and fantasy as well as that it takes place in multiple places and not just one set location. Book Nephilim awakening The book is well written in crisp active prose in present tense so it s a lively read and the pace races along like an Indiana Jones movie There s nothing extraneous in this novel it s tightly and cleanly edited but the author s style is occasionally a little too sparse as I had to read some sections than once to work out exactly what was going on I also found the many references to the Old Testament confusing than illuminating But even without understanding the details of the Nephilum s history I was happy to just go along for the ride. What is it about this book that caused me to read it in four days tearing through it like I haven t read a book in a long time The mixture of religion and fantasy The quotes from a bunch of different scripture The intriguing urban fantasy setting Nephilim Awakening Enkindu is good there s that to start with The author has crafted a book that stands well on its own at the beginning of what may end up being a very promising series with interesting characters who are drawn well And although some of Odji s initial wise words walk the line of cliche he ends up being interesting in his own light Kiran is Joss Whedan s kickass girl which is cool as well and while maybe I saw the way things were going for a while the author had me believing it wasn t just going to be a Hollywood written romance Seth is an archetype we ve seen before but a well made character nonetheless And Brook Wow The plot moved along at a refreshingly swift pace with some moments of odd interesting quasi religious reflection here and there A nice plus there except that the fight scenes were tricky to keep up with While this is sort of realistic the advantage of a novel is we get to know who s shooting at whom and perhaps how serious the injuries are There were a couple of huh moments where it wasn t clear why i.
