Gender in communication a critical introduction 4th edition

Revision of the author s Communicating gender diversity a critical approach published in 2007 Gender in Communication A Critical IntroductionI had to use the first edition of this book in my undergrad class Gender Issues in Communication as a student However it has been so long I felt that teaching this book now in my Special Topics Gender Communication Culture class would be almost like reading it afresh And it s true It s a textbook so it s not like I can give you an indication of narrative characters etc However the argument that the authors advance challenges college students to think critically about gender and the assumptions of inherent gendered communication practices held by so many other textbooks teachers courses etc I personally find the organization of the text accessible and the content reasonably challenging to 3rd and 4th year college students though I might suggest supplementing extra readings for graduate students if this is a bridge course Overall the 2nd edition achieves the goals it set out to do while still holding the original purpose and excellence of the original I feel fortunate to have taken classes from both the primary authors and this book clearly highlights their scholarly perspective Looking forward to hopefully some day teaching from the 3rd edition 1452220093
