I love the generous vision of creativity in The Art Abandonment Project Michael deMeng Art sharing at its sneakiest Art sharing at its sneakiest The Art Abandonment Project is your guide to expressing yourself through random acts of art Create something for the joy of making it and then leave it for an unsuspecting person to find be it on a shelf at the library a park bench a table at a coffee shop or anywhere a stranger might stumble upon it Inside you ll discover fun ideas for monthly abandonment challenges way to connect with other abandoneers in the creative community the value of sharing with others and Join the art abandonment project set your art fee and make someone s day The Art Abandonment Project Create and Share Random Acts of ArtI love the concept of this book and reading about the power of abandoning your art was really eye opening Unfortunately there is something off in structure of this book I think too many concepts styles artists media were being combined and while that works fine in a blog where you can jump around and click on what you like it doesn t work with the linear flow of a published book My most favorite chapter was the piece written by one of my favorite teachers and painters Flora Bowley She and a group of friends made a beautiful found nature mandala on a busy intersection in Portland Oregon Her writing style and wonderful photography was really powerful and moving Michael deMeng This is a really cool idea I would be really excited if I found abandoned art Could be a really fun teen library program too Would just have to make sure to find places to leave the art where they wouldn t get in trouble lol Michael deMeng Anything to get people to talk about or notice art is a good thing Michael deMeng I think that every person who reads this book will have a different experience based on why they picked it up but I found it to be very helpful both in the inspirational sense to get me motivated to make art and in the practical sense to get me connected to the art abandonment community but also to actually start projects instead of just dreaming about it I personally got a lot out of reading this and will be taking concrete steps to fill my soul with art on a regular basis Michael deMeng I really enjoyed this book It is full of great ideas and lovely art work I look forward to experimenting with this both on my own and with my daughter Michael deMeng
