Taking a stand or making a stand
U. Taking a stand in spanish S Senator Rand Paul lives in Bowling Green Kentucky with his wife and three children He has been a practicing ophthalmologist for seventeen years His run for the US Senate representing Kentucky was his first bid for political office He is the son of Ron Paul Texas congressman and 2008 Republican Presidential candidate. Book table stand S citizens to leading the discourse on criminal justice Senator Rand Paul has taken Washington by storm His outreach to this country s minority communities alone championing reforms of mandatory minimum sentencing school choice and the creation of enterprise zones for economically depressed areas distinguishes him as a politician and Republican the likes of which are rarely seen What lies ahead is Senator Paul s plan for America where lower taxes and smaller government empower a muscular and expansive middle class an America that doesn t engage in nation building or fight wars where the best outcome is stalemate an America that believes in constitutionally protected liberty and the separation of powers Taking a Stand Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to Unite AmericaThis was a very good book While it is a little self serving I guess it has to be if the guy is was running for president he really addresses many current issues in reasonable ways It was very readable and pointed out a number of problems in government that need fixing I d like to see him attack some of them from his Senate seat English A clear well written and inspiring vision on America the world and the GOP It raises only one question how can anyone not stand with Rand English If you never bothered to learn about Rand Paul or you just want to learn this is the book for you Every American should read it before voting in 2016 Learn about the man his wife his life as an eye surgeon and becoming a Senator Rand Paul is no ordinary Politician He went into the senate with the intention on doing what a senator was supposed to do That didn t last too long He didn t want to be one of the cronies who saw business as usual and not stepping on toes as to not stir up trouble Rand Paul was going to stir up Washington He began to do things as he saw the people wanted him to He would fight for the people who had voted for him for their rights He would be the man he was even as others were aghast at his determination to change the way the system ran He would fight for against what others would back him on but when it comes to increasing defense spending these conservatives are willing to go into debt instead of cutting other departments As Americans if we start spending money in a particular area having kids then we have to make cuts in other departments going out to eat The government should have to do the same Another important aspect that Paul addresses in this book and that is not talked about by other Republicans is the racial tension in this country Paul is the only candidate going to these poor minority and traditional democratic areas He is being well received He is growing the party by addressing the problems all Americans not just conservative Republicans I believe this is a man who will work with congress and follow the constitution to make America great again English Rand Paul is running for President and like many other Candidates releasing a book at the beginning of the Campaign is a good way to get his messages out and to introduce himself to the voters I d estimate the content of the book as being about one half lambasting Democrats Obama and Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton and the other half trying to explain his political positions on the important issues facing our Country As most of us know Rand was a physician prior to running for the Senate but apparently always had an interest in politics and conservative ideals That probably has a lot to do with family conversations around the dinner table as he grew up since his father has been a long time Congressman Senator Paul also worked on his father s campaigns for Congress and on his runs for President in the past Rand Paul comes across as someone who is likable honest idealistic and willing to fight for his ideas Politicians tend to talk in exaggerated tones and I think Rand Paul showed some tendencies to that in his book Most of his his criticisms of the current Administration were consistent with his Party s positions but he separates himself from the crowded GOP presidential hopefuls in some of his own positions He discusses his policies and recommendations most of which sound good Unfortunately as we ve recently seen with our current president nice ideas for change by first term Senators don t necessarily become policy due to a dysfunctional Congress Speaking of which he s very critical of the performance of Congress as being slow to act and acting for themselves as individuals rather than collectively for the public good So the ideals and proposals he discusses in his book are only indicative of what his vision may be not policies which he could make happen if he were to be elected Among his ideas and proposals are implementing term limits for Congress ending the politicized gerrymandering of congressional districts ending ObamaCare as we know it cracking down on the NSA and enacting novel ideas like Bills being considered by Congress cannot be brought up for vote until Congress has had time to actually read the Bills He proposed a one day wait for every 20 pages in the Bill I doubt that anything will ever come from these ideas but I like what he says about them anyway In terms of foreign policy it s hard to determine how his ideas would be implemented He talks about maintaining a strong military but is against our past practice of pushing out foreign despots and against sending our troops to foreign hotspots My feeling is that he ll urge other Nations to do the right thing and then we won t end up being embroiled in too many foreign entanglements Like any good Republican he wants to reduce taxes across the board and to make up for the loss in revenue wants to reduce spending But as we ve seen that s easier said than done He s for a Balanced Budget Amendment but again that s not something that has moved forward in the past The Senator spends some time discussing his environmental support in the new Republican Party he envisions clean air and clean water will be important However those policies must be balanced against the need for local jobs and the economy He was silent on climate change but he indicates that he s against policies which harm the coal industry which is understandable given the state which sent him to the Senate As far as his medical plan he suggests that the high costs of Medicare can be fixed by enrolling every senior in the same plans that members of Congress enjoy indicating that the Congressional Health Plan provides excellent coverage at a fraction of the costs of Medicare But Medicare deals with our oldest citizens with the highest medical expenses so there s no surprise there And changes to Health Care as we ve seen in the past is a major fight waiting to happen But he tries to maintain a positive attitude in the book and I liked some of his initiatives and his demonstrated willingness to stand up to his own party and willingness to work with like minded individuals whether in his own party or the opposing party I also like his stance on criminal justice reform changing the approach to the war on drugs changing mandatory sentencing addressing voting rights of non violent felons implementing school vouchers and simplifying the tax code Unfortunately all these good ideas and comforting words don t translate to change Maybe if a President was able to use a line item veto some of his ideas if he ever was elected President could be implemented But his idea of simplifying the tax code cutting taxes for all increasing revenue by some magic formula cutting foreign aid to Muslim countries etc. Taking a standzuhalten would require Congressional action and support which doesn t seems to happen very often English
