Tiny resort mountain cabins that completely captured my imagination I m especially excited about this because it looks like the entire series is going to be built around the family refurbishing these old little rental cabins I love both that idea and the mountain ambience I m a mountain girl and this hits all my reader hot buttons for what I enjoy in setting But there is so much to the storyPoppy and Ryan I LOVED these two characters Poppy is one of four siblings who grew up in this tiny mountain town She s the optimistic onethe dreamer She s also the one who s the first to get her dreams smashed because she trusts too readily and too easily She s the one in the family who thinks they can fix the cabins to be worth somethingnone of her 3 siblings agree Right off the bat.

Take my breath away botw Can Ryan find the boy when he disappears Or will someone else become the hero of the day Romance Good romance Our hero is a famous producer and actor who suffered a horrible event years ago in March Now every year he spends the month of March trying to forget This involves risky behavior coupled with massive amount of alcohol This year he is staying in a dilapidated cabin in a resort in the mountains Our heroine is trying to restore the family resort Since she was rude to him at first meeting our hero decides to spend time with her Obviously this is the trick to landing a handsome rich guyrudeness Who knew Romance Here I am again.

Even though Ryan didn t want him there I m looking forward to seeing of these folks in the next book Romance Great emotion packed story My favorite kind Poppy Walker and her siblings own a piece of mountain resort property with some cabins that Poppy thinks could be repaired and rented out Her siblings don t agree So it s left to her and her 5 year old son to live there and try to make the repairs She puts up flyers around town and it attracts the attention of a Hollywood personality looking to escape for a month Ryan is a former teen idol and movie star who gave it up to go into producing He shows up to rent a cabin from Poppy and she has no idea who he is He uses a fake name and she doesn t recognize him because she doesn t have TV and doesn t go to movies He is running from a personal tragedy that happened in March 4 years ago Every March is self destructive for him Of course.

My Review I definitely enjoy a feel good contemporary romance and this one definitely worked for me in that regard The book was really good but I think part of the reason I liked it so much was the setting The first half of the book takes place in a group of old I loved her She s determined Her 5 yo son is gone for 10 days She plans to use every minute of those days working on the cabins to fix them upand is fully planning to do it all on her own to prove that it can be done This girl has gumption and grit. Take my breath away flac Then there s Ryanthe infamous hollywood A lister Throughout much of the book it s a mystery as to exactly what s happened in previous March s to make it such an awful month for him But he s in the mountains hiding out and Poppy s abandoned cabins seem like the perfect escape until they literally begin to crash down around them Ryan is definitely hiding something and at first I just assumed that it was some sort of shallow hollywood driven infamous occurrence but as the details of his past are revealed I fell even and in love with him This guy gah my heart hurt for him. Take my breath away berlin The story is set up fabulously It starts completely focused around Poppy and Ryan and as of their story is revealed characters become important to the story so that by the time the end rolls around I was fully invested with about 12 15 character lives in this small town I loved that about it There s also a side romance between Linus and Charlie that at first I got annoyed about because it was taking time on the page away from Poppy and Ryan but as we delved further into it I became just as emotionally invested with them as I did the MC s Their story is also told in a rather inventive way with flashbacks told via script from the summer before It took some getting used to but then I loved it. Take my breath away botw Overall it was a great start to this new series and I am definitely looking forward to stories about this family I m excited I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review Romance This is a case of me not knowing if it s me or if it s the book Mostly I just wanted this book to be over but I also don t think it was a terrible book Let s see if I can work my feelings out. Take my breath away free online novel First no mentioned in the description but Poppy the female lead has a five year old child Do I wish I had known that going in Yes absolutely I m not a big fan of books where the main characters have children There s too many things about kids that rightly take away from the romance and I prefer my romances to be about romances not a child That said Poppy s son was kind of cute and I liked his adoration of Ryan so it wasn t all bad but still if I had known in advance there would be a child I probably wouldn t have even picked this up. Take my breath away lyrics emma bunton Second part of me feels like this is a book for older people which is weird because Poppy is 27 years old two years younger than I am and Ryan is only a handful of years older 31 maybe However Poppy is such an old maid Since having the kid she s cloistered herself off up in the mountains outside of Los Angeles She used to manage an inn but when it closes for repairs she decides to renovate some cabins her family owns and try to rent them out to rich flatlanders aka Los Angelenos aka people from Los Angeles which is how she meets Ryan a former childhood star Poppy seems impossibly perfect and independent I understand why her circumstances would have made her that way but still it just didn t seen genuine to me. Take your breath away book Third when Ryan and Poppy met I liked their relationship Ryan is the brooding guy from LA and Poppy is the small town girl who s been beaten down And there was heat and attraction there and I was into it But as the story went on I never got what either of them really saw in each other Their interactions were few and far between and when they were interacting it was either with Poppy s son present or when they were having sex I don t want to use the term instalove that s so popular with my beloved YA books because it wasn t like that but it also left me feeling confused They re both very closed off characters but I there had to have been a better way to allow them to get to know each other The book is told in alternating third person perspectives between Poppy and Ryan and honestly if we hadn t had Ryan s perspective we would have known nothing about him. Take my breath awayly lyrics Fourth I just lied above The book is told from Ryan and Poppy s perspectives but then oddly there were also excerpts from Ryan s brother Linus s screenplay which even oddly is based on a relationship Linus had the previous summer with Poppy s cousin Charlie a girl Then after the screenplay excerpt the book would go into the story of Linus and Charlie in the present from either but mostly Linus s of their third person perspectives I did not understand this at all From Linus and Charlie s relationship I did get to learn about the relations between locals and flatlanders but otherwise it just seemed like an unnecessary distraction Even though I liked Linus and Charlie I wouldn t mind reading a book about them but I don t understand why their story had to be interjected here. Take my breath away love theme from top gun Fifth for much of the book the story just seemed stuck At the beginning of the story Poppy and Ryan are at Poppy s family s cabins and since they re the only two people there and they re trying to avoid each other not much was happening Which was sucked because it meant spending a lot of time in Poppy and Ryan s heads After maybe 50 or 75 pages I didn t know how I was going to get through the rest of the book But then movement Poppy and Ryan have to leave the family compound But unfortunately they end up at Ryan s mountain home Poppy s son who was in Disney World with her cousin and Linus are now in the picture but still it stagnated Honestly nothing really happened Poppy s son hero worships Ryan but Ryan keeps to himself Poppy takes care of her son and sometimes Poppy and Ryan have sex It was just very slow and drawn out. Take my breath away guitar chords Sixth something good the story didn t unfold how I expected it Ryan through a series of unfortunately events became infamous with the tabloids Poppy who s not into celebrity culture at all doesn t recognize him I thought that the story would go along without Poppy knowing Ryan s true identity and that at the end that would be the problem between them Also Ryan doesn t immediately know about Poppy s son and that was another thing I thought would be a problem in the end But then Poppy finds out that Ryan is famous and Ryan finds out Poppy has a son and that wasn t ultimately the issue The thing that was ultimately the issue was heartbreaking and I found how Ryan deals with it and ultimately came to terms with it compelling but still it didn t make up for all my other issues. Take my breath away chords guitar The story is told from two POVs no wait four POVs See the blurb only mentions Poppy and Ryan but there is a whole other storyline with two different characters as well When Linus and Charlie s story was first introduced it threw me a little off kilter It was a bit odd how it was thrown in there and with flashbacks The flashbacks are done like a movie script because Linus is in The Biz but I can t decide if that was clever or lame Their storyline does crossover with Poppy and Ryan though Linus is Ryan s brother and Charlie is Poppy s cousin They have a second chance at love story that was actually kind of good I was just oddly placed at times. Take my breath away long version Okay back to Poppy and Ryan Ryan hates March Something very tragic happened in his life during March four years earlier and every year since something disastrous happens So he ends up at Poppy s rundown cabins she is trying to fix up Poppy was an okay character but she annoyed me in the beginning I can t stand when characters act stunned stupid as Ryan describes it Poppy gets all flighty and weird when first meeting the guy literally running away like she doesn t know how to act Seriously do people actually behave that way I mean she s in the hospitality industry so I would expect her not act like she has a social anxiety disorder At twenty seven Poppy is completely clueless about movies television shows or anything regarding them I could believe this to an extent but there are too many factors playing in her life for her to be as clueless as she was Her utter cluelessness is important though because Ryan is a very well known celebrity. Take my breath away karaoke As for Ryan I really didn t care for him I understand he was going through a rough time and wanted to push Poppy away there were things about him that rubbed me the wrong way though He would get angry and take it out on her with sex because he could tell she was so inexperienced She was willing but his intent was to scare her away with his roughness and being cruel so she wouldn t want him There were a couple of instances like that and then it would be okay the next day It was weird and super dickish He seriously needed medication but apparently only in March and then he s totally different So everyone says I ve read many books with characters who have that kind of dynamic and it works but it didn t work for me in this one. Take my breath awayly chords Oh and Poppy has a five year old son Mason His mom may not know who Ryan is but Mason sure does he practically worships him Ryan and Mason s dynamic was kind of cute The kid constantly followed him around and Ryan would try to brush him off but at the same time he was actually good with him However there is some drama that involves Mason s dad that mostly got a big eye roll from me. Take my breath away book There were a few funny and sweet moments but there was a lot I just wasn t feeling If you re the type that doesn t like fast moving romance then beware because this whole story takes place within a month Not even a full month of getting to know each other since they barely interacted the first part of it I usually don t mind at all but this time it felt off There were times when I liked their dynamic but mostly it didn t feel all that authentic I don t know maybe it was just me.
