The parting glass meaning The writing was very good Foley has earned my respect as an author for her deft characterisation her wonderful little descriptive gems and her artistic vision of dignity and beauty in the commonplace She writes skilfully as one who s apprenticed herself to the greats and knows the silvery sound of beautifully crafted words I also really enjoyed the low key nature of the mystery something on the low end of assault quite distant from murder the standard mystery plot coupon but still worth solving.
