Re read this book mainly for Some of Your Blood by Theodore Sturgeon however I found The Idol of the Flies by Jane Rice a very entertaining read Great characterization and plot Also enjoyed the writing style. The Old Pan books are always good value Alfred Hitchcock Ignoravo la passione del grande Hitchcock per la lettura e la sua abitudine di collezionare racconti perci stata un apprezzatissima sorpresa imbattermi in questa raccolta Ammetto di essermi approcciata alla lettura con una certa aspettativa che non mai una buona cosa eppure appena riemersa da queste pagine non mi considero affatto delusa un antologia con i suoi alti e bassi come del resto tendono a esserle tutte ma in questo caso non ritengo nessuno dei racconti scelti del tutto privo di interesse anche quelli che meno mi hanno entusiasmato risultano a mio parere totalmente compensati da altri che invece ho trovato delle vere chicche giusto per citarne un paio penso a The Whole Town s Sleeping e a Woodrow Wilson s Necktie In generale la raccolta per quella che stata la mia esperienza si fa leggere con estrema scorrevolezza e non poco piacere Non posso che consigliarla a chi ama immergersi in piccoli scorci ben ritmati e densi a un tempo con caratterizzazioni pienamente riuscite nonch in grado ovviamente in misura variabile determinabile anche in base alle diverse sensibilit e tipologie di lettori di suscitare la giusta dose di suspense tanto che per ogni racconto iniziato pu risultare difficile distogliersene se non a lettura finita a me capitato tanto da terminare la raccolta in una manciata di giorni il che non pu non costituire un ulteriore conferma circa la validit di questa antologia E a maggior ragione la consiglio a coloro che magari arenati in una fase di blocco vorrebbero riprendere a leggere pur risultando indecisi sul titolo da scegliere ritengo che questo sia un ottimo punto da cui ripartire in quanto non troppo impegnativo e avvincente il giusto Alfred Hitchcock
