I picked up this book because of the fun gothic cover art I kept reading because it was fun The jacket blurb and title however are all misleading The book is NOT about a mysterious woman in danger Someone renting a local house in a small New England town learns that a local resident had been convicted of murder and suspecting the man was framed gets embroiled in uncovering the suspicious motives of all the hostile inhabitants of the town The two lead characters are enjoyable There is comic relief in their banter than gothic suspense Mary Reisner
