Kingdom of the planet of the apes comic book

Loved it Corinna Sara Bechko If nothing else volume three shows just how ambitious the Cataclysm arc is There are plot threads from the first volume that finally pay off here The story ends in what was a surprising and satisfying direction for me That may be because I m not very familiar with the older Planet of the Apes movies but I never felt like that dampened my enjoyment of this story arc Overall I ve enjoyed this series and would like to see from this creative team Sometimes it is hard to find something different and fresh in comics and that is something that has been consistent in this series Corinna Sara Bechko The final chapters of the story effectively and dramatically tie together the two POTA series that Bechko has written Her portrayal of a younger Dr Zaius and his wife really stands out showing us character nuances that were only hinted at briefly in the original Apes movie Chapter Twelve is an amazing capstone to the series It fills in many missing details from Escape From the Planet of the Apes making the apes journey back in time at least somewhat plausible rather than the ridiculous Macguffin that it appears to be in the movie Corinna Sara Bechko 3. Planet of the apes book 1963 5 a bit woolgathering than the other 2 but still very enjoyable and opening interesting doors to certain characters Corinna Sara Bechko Good artwork very involved storyline a bit hard to follow as it jumps around in time and space Corinna Sara Bechko Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm Vol. 3 (3) (Planet of the Apes (Boom Studios))Corinna Bechko has been writing comics since her horror graphic novel Heathentown was published by Image Shadowline in 2009 Since then she worked for Marvel DC Boom Image and Dark Horse among others on titles such as Planet of the Apes Star Wars Legacy Savage Hulk Aliens Vampirella Invisible Republic and Green Lantern Earth One She was recently short listed for the Aeon Award for her prose short Sooterkin She is a zoologist by training. Planet of the apes book 1963 Eight years before astronaut George Taylor fell from the starsthe stars fell on the PLANET OF THE APES Still recovering from the terrible cataclysm that rocked the planet Doctor Zaius tries to maintain the fragile coalition of apes chimps and orangutans in an effort to ensure that the rebuilding of Ape City continues apace But when a mysterious human woman begins to draw followers from human and ape alike will Doctor Zaius hard earned peace hold long enough to avoid an even greater treachery from overtaking the PLANET OF THE APES Collecting issues 9 12 of the critically acclaimed series from Corinna Bechko HEATHENTOWN FEAR THE HOME FRONT and Gabriel Hardman HULK AGENTS OF ATLAS along with fan favorite artist Damian Couceiro THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS Planet of the Apes Cataclysm Vol 3 3 Planet of the Apes Boom Studios The third volume starts with the humans finally getting an advantage over the apes in the form of a captured airship At the same time the apes have mounted an attack against them As battle between the two species rages Sully begins to go into labor But the battle reaches the tower she s giving birth in and tensions begin to run high Will she escape in time and importantly will her newborn baby survive This book was good however there was a glaring issue The consequences and conflict the main character s go through have no weight because the characters aren t developed well at all Readers will find that during important plot moments they won t care about what happens to the characters Without a big effect on the reader the book s plot seems to not matter as much Other than this the beautiful art and complex world will keep them interested and enjoying the series Vince R Corinna Sara Bechko The end is the beginning is the end The circle is complete and this prequel to the original movies becomes a sequel of sorts and ends in a fitting manner This was a satisfying series and I am sad that Boom has either pulled the plug on and or lost the license to for Apes comics Corinna Sara Bechko A bit disjointed First three chapters here are a month after the previous volume I find it difficult to believe Cornelius dealt with the possibility of a talking human prior to the film The last chapter explains how Dr Milo got Taylor s ship up and running and why Lucius is absent Your mileage may vary on the telling of Lucius fate here compared to Death of the Planet of the Apes But as far as Milo s reviving of the ship goes I think I prefer how Conspiracy on the Planet of the Apes detailed it The ending leads into Escape from the Planet of the Apes of course and we know how that turns out Corinna Sara Bechko An incomplete arc followed by an inter film one shot Not up to the standard of the preceding volumes but still entertaining particularly the too short explorations of ape species racism and religious intolerance two subjects always easier to explore in metaphor and allegory than fact Corinna Sara Bechko I m glad I m familiar with the other work by this writing team I m glad that they are now half way through their own series twice the length of this one Cataclysm is filled with many good ideas There is a revolution a planet being destroyed and a strange ancient race of beings that have an ability through mutation to control minds Any one of these three ideas could have been its own twelve issue arc And they are not alone I liked the potential of this book But too many ideas were suggested and never resolved I wish that instead of this twelve issues Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman had been given a continuing title to do what they will for as long as it takes For this reason I am glad for Invisible Republic I recommend Bechko and Hardman s first Apes book Betrayal over this one Hardman illustrates Betrayal He s very good Hardcore fans will likely also enjoy this book It s a speculative genre This book certainly speculates But it isn t likely to appeal to anyone but avid fans of the franchise So read Betrayal and become an avid fan Then return to Cataclysm Corinna Sara Bechko
