Standing on the front line
Sheriff Cheyenne Culpepper has been alone in the small town of Purity California for two years since the death of her husband But she hasn t realized she was lonely until handsome hot shot firefighter Deacon Granger showed up flirting and making her remember she s a woman with needs too long denied But bringing him into her bed can put her heart and her reputation a vital trait in a small town on the line She s been standing on that line so long balancing who she is and how people see heris she really ready to cross it for him Standing on the LineAfter reading and enjoying the first novella of this series I was excited to read this one However this story fell short to me The writing was good along with the characters and the sex was HOT I adored Deacon He was a hero I easily fell for This story hinted that Cheyenne the heroine was older than Deacon but it never mentioned how many years apart they were. Standing on the equator line There were a few things that I thought could have been better in this story For one the plot needed fleshing out This story felt like an outline of a book rather than its own story I think if this story was to be expanded beyond its 64 pages it could have been better with added depth and development of the plot and characters Another thing is that this story felt rushed Things and events that took place within the story happened very fast that didn t flow well overall. Standing on the moon chords As for the hero and heroine I had no problems with Deacon I loved his character However it was a little harder for me to like Cheyenne in the beginning but that did change as the story progressed She had been a widow for two years and didn t not want to get involved with anyone especially now that she was the town s sheriff Yet she went against her reasoning and slept with Deacon anyways Then she tried to convince herself that she didn t want anything to do with him after sleeping together It was a lot of back and forth or uncertainty on Cheyenne s part and for that I developed a bit of dislike for her character It was also her 180 degree turn around in her thinking and behavior towards the end that got me scratching my head She was adamant on not getting together with Deacon but then changed her mind one day later I just thought it wasn t very believable or realistic. Standing on the mountain lyrics Despite the criticisms I have with this story it was still a decent read nonetheless I appreciated that it wasn t filled with numerous typos grammar issues and or formatting issues which is a good thing Nothing is worse than reading a book only to be distracted by numerous grammatical and formatting errors Also I did like the plot of the story I just believe it needed fleshing out I do enjoy the author s writing style as it is a good fit for me and I will continue to read of her stories Emma Jay I have no problem with a novella but I deducted a star for the abrupt ending: Standing on the scratch line as usual very well written with quick pacing and a super yummy hero Emma Jay

..This one is 3.5 to 4 stars
