And survival comes at a price The Stars Are Falling My middle son and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book The writing is solid and well edited I especially like the way the main female is strong in a believable manner He likes how she was developed as having strengths that did not suddenly vanish when faced with adversity While neither of us are romance fans we both feel the relationship was handled well without being distracting or overbearing The plot starts out interesting and takes the reader on a fun easy to read journey with a well written story wrap up after the excitement tones down What you might expect from this books genre is nothing like what you get to read it s so much and so very enjoyable We received an evaluation ARC in exchange for our honest unpaid opinion 9781612132501 When I read the summary for this book.

First check out this cover It s a great cover Please note the falling stars in the black shadow of the person And that white It s not what you might think Read the book and draw your own conclusion I did Second this is a book set mostly in York and that vicinity I have never been to England and am not always conversant with English terms but this is a story written by an Englishwoman and once I remembered the American equivalents for jumper and torch and boot I did better. The stars are falling bible Birbeck starts her readers off with a preface that is ominous but intriguing A child s view of her mother putting her to bed seems innocuous enough but the line I had never seen my mother cry before that night puts a bit of a spin on it The preface is important of course but it won t really make sense for quite some timeand this is a good thing The intrigue is important. Historical fiction the stars are falling from heaven Another lovely image Birbeck gives us is this The night sky exploded to life with the absence of light Stars greedily stole the light from the Earth and gave it back to us with a silvery hint. How often do falling stars happen This terrific image is especially effective becomes it comes after a terrifying shockwave has apparently taken out the power following what seems to have been a meteorite landing on the earth There is fear but there is also beauty in our heroine s eyes and that s a lovely sequence. The stars are falling book Birbeck s story here is pretty basic There s a supernatural bad thing of sorts and a young human Jennifer knows how to make it better by virtue of both who she is and what she knows Jennifer is joined by her housemates and the young man whom she fancies surprise it s mutual and the four of them have to deal with a lot of heavy earth shaking stuff in a very short period of time These things include the loss of Jennifer s dad he abandoned the family when she was little the appearance of the glowing people mentioned in the blurb above the very human reactions all over to the invasion of these people and so on There is violence muted terror and suspense. Until the stars fall kindle The author is also good about giving us some smiles though in the midst of all of this The relationship between Jennifer and Dale is sweet At times it seems to move too fast but I reminded myself that in times of stress life is lived in large gulps and small moments and emotions can be forged into tight bonds in short order There are also interesting characters we meet along the way like the candy store owners who remind us that a bright spot can always be found. The stars will fall book Jennifer had to learn these things too and also had to learn about herself Dale cut me off with a kiss It s as good as family We re not blood but blood counts for nothing when you abandon it. The stars and everything in between pdf The story took an unusual turn that I won t spoil for you here But it put a different perspective on a lot of things including cosmology that I am not sure I personally could get behind But it is Science FICTION after all and that smooths a lot of wrinkles. The stars are fallingacies Jenny is a student looking to major in Nuclear Physics She lives with 3 other roommates Dale Alexis and Mark in an off cmapus home While out star gazing one night she witnesses what is assumed to be a meteor shower but later learns they are Stars Guardians of Earth coming to save the planet by destroying all humans Yikes The pace is very fast from the stars arriving on earth to the early death of her mother to the discovery of who she is Jenny tries to outrace the clock outrun the Stars and save her planet Her roommates join her Dale is a sweetheart who quickly hooks up with Jenny in the beginning and sticks with her through thick and thin Alexis comes off as a party bimbo at first but we soon learn she is Mark while least liked by Jenny is actually one ofthe characters I liked While he cares for the others he just wants to come home but when it is time to get down and dirty he is still there for them. The stars are falling down lyrics While I liked how fast the book moves keeping me very engaged it seemed to skip over character development a bit And yet there are times we get glimpses into Jenny s past a bit to get a feel for her Yet overall I just struggled to get into the characters I never got the chance to really feel for them Also the imagery One part can seem very well done such as watching the stars fall Yet when she describes the house broken into or the journeys through York I drew a blank Part of the problem I am sure is that I have never been to York but I felt as though it was written with the expectation of knowing the layout Otherwise very well written. The stars are falling from the sky This book is also quite thought provoking We quickly learn the Stars are there to destroy us for hurting Mother Earth Jenny s ideas for saving herself and everyone else had me thinking what solutions would I come up with Also makes me reflect on what I can do to help or hurt The book brings up a very good point This planet is dying at the rate we use up natural resources pollute everything etc So bravo on the plot for making me pause think and reflect on my own habits Couple other things I wish were different or seemed off One I would have liked a bit Science aspect to everything It would have fit in nicely Also how does one 19 year old think she is going to convince not only stars but all the people of the world All government leaders environmentalists and general public must all get on board This just seems a bit out there to me I would have felt differently if one of them had a connection to a high ranking official or something but no These are just small things though and don t really detract much from the book. Literature fiction the stars are falling book Stars is a well written detailed without being overtly complicated plot with strong characters and an even stronger female lead and in a time where female characters are either Mary Sues or just awful female leads that fall apart at the first hurdle Stars brings something to the YA generation it doesn t actually have A Sci fi Young Adult novel that has a strong lead with strong characters that you easily connect with its a complete must read. All the stars are falling down When the book comes out do pick it up as Michelle has once again published a written novel that s an easy ready with easy characters that you engage with quickly and fall in love with even quicker. Until the stars fall book Jenny knows another way one that will save both Earth and humanity But it isn t simply a case of finding the nearest official and explaining everything No one wants to listen to a nineteen year old and her friends They must take their idea directly to the Stars and somehow convince them to listen But to get there they first have to survive I was instantly intrigued It seemed unique to the majority of PN reads that are available While I liked the story it wasn t a huge page turner I had a difficult time connecting to the romantic aspect of the story Jenny and Dale were a cute couple but there were no butterflies for me I would loved to have read of their backstory in real time and not just after the fact I found Jenny to be a likable heroine she was strong willed kept her whits about her at all times despite the pending doom of all Earth The ending was also a little climatic given the possible scenarios I really appreciated there was a clear ending and full epilogue I would not discouraged anyone from reading the book and would read another book written by the author I received a copy courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for a review 9781612132501 I really really liked the astronomical save the earth themed book from Michelle Birbeck It had a great storyline and while it was fictional it was still very believable I really dug the relationship between Jenny and Dale even though it moved a little fast Alexis and Mark were exceptional secondary characters Most of this book is pretty fast paced and action packed while the 4 main characters are on the run from the Stars Probably the ONLY thing I don t like about this book is the cover It looks like the cover for a horror book and there really isn t anything that horrifying in this book However everything else about this book I enjoyed I even walked away from this book with a better appreciation for Mother Earth.
