Ashoan Each owner beginning with Ashoan had an imperfect life and the magic in the rug brought comfort to each differently I enjoyed how the author described the details and meaningful symbols in the rug It made me want to find a magical rug of my own Paperback Ashoan s Rug is a fascinating story of how one object affects people in different ways It s intriguing to see how each story within the novel connects to the next and how culture plays a role in each person s life The language is rich with details about diversity it s obvious the author researched a lot about what goes into the making of a prayer rug and how it travels from one place to another As a college student.

Ashoan's rugkussen Carrie has published dozens of short stories and hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles and three novels Lillian s Garden Roundfire Books 2013 Ashoan s Rug Roundfire Books 2013 and A Garden Wall in Provence Owl Canyon Press 2017 and a collection of short fiction Black Tie Optional Owl Canyon Press 2019 Her non fiction memoir about her family s struggles with their mother s Alzheimer s The Last Childhood A Family Story of Alzheimer s initially published by Three Rivers Press was recently revised updated and reissued through site_link After reading and thoroughly enjoying Knowles s Apricots in a Turkish Garden I had to read something else by her Ashoan s Rug was equally as delightful Linked short stories think Olive Kitteridge are a wonderful and complex genre and Knowles does a great job The writing is gentle and precise evocative and seductive and the stories oh the stories are richly textured and compelling Paperback The author weaved together an intriguing story about a rug that holds a different kind of magic for each person who owns it I enjoyed following the rug from owner to owner and reading about how this Turkoman rug affected each owner on a personal level beginning with its creator I really loved reading this because it was a quick read that was filled with detail I found both educational and relevant In our classrooms we are constantly encouraged to explore things from a global perspective and I found myself doing just that through this novel Paperback Short stories based on the life of the current owner of a Turkish prayer rug woven by a young bride of an elderly man Another book club choice that I wouldn t have read on my own but very well written I recognized several locations in Raleigh NC Where I lived for 5 years before I realized the author lives in Raleigh Paperback Won this book from a First Reads giveaway I appreciated the format of the story one object tying multiple lives together The concept was nice as was the overall theme but the author I think tried to hard to make it obvious to the reader There was little room to draw one s own conclusion and the writing was plain Perhaps I am missing something or perhaps this is just not my kind of book Paperback
