Cloak of the light audiobook
I did enjoy it and the writing I thought it was a decent story and plot I am just not a big science person and this book had a lot of science type things going on and it was hard for me to focus on much of the story because I wasn t interested in that part of it I think I will put the rest of the series on hold for now and maybe revisit it at another time I do think its a great series with lots of potential and loved all the spiritual aspects of it Would still recommend to someone who enjoys lots of action and has a love for science fiction English My CommentsI ve never read this author before.
Cloak of the light audiobook
And yet it directly concerns what s going on right now in our society regarding good and evil we should all be aware of this stuff Chuck Black has such a way of describing things specifically fight sequences which this book is full of that is really easy to follow and creates an accurate mental picture unlike so many suspense novels where I get totally confused trying to follow the characters actions on my mental television screen Spoiler This is one of the only Christian books I have read where by the end the main character still has not accepted Christ as their Savior Also there was NO closure Everything was left open and Drew still has barely any answers to what he s been working on the entire time and there are some characters that you ve kind of lost track of that are a big part of the story These things didn t bother me.

Cloak of the lighturge From all the great things I heard about it I was going into this book thinking I m going to love it Turns out this book was just so boring I was almost contemplating a dnf. Symbolism of cloak in the bible Let me start of by talking about the characters they sucked Drew was a robotic bland unrealistic character that I didn t give two hoots about He was just so unlikable and boring too read about I feel like if Black had written in first person perspective he would ve seemed like a much emotion filled character Instead I got a very bland very boring main character that I don t want too read about. Kindle cloak of the light free pdf Oh dude don t even get me started on Sydney She is the most annoying frustrating character I ve ever had to read about I hate too dis the christian character but oh my was she annoying. Cloak of the lightquist The plot was just so boring There were times when I was just like is this book even moving I mean it felt like only three major things happened in this book and the rest was just put there to make a novel Also the writing didn t help with that either The writing was so so bland and basic it was funny Maybe that s why I didn t enjoy these characters or this book like I should have. Kindle cloak of the light summary If your going to read a book on spiritual warfare I d suggest reading by Laura Gallier Much much better and depicts Spiritual Warfare better in my opinion English I fully admit that I wasn t really interested in this book from the description on the back the reason I picked this book up for review is because I m familiar with Chuck Black s other series and enjoyed them so I decided I d try his newest books. Cloak of the lightzig I m not usually a big fan of speculative supernatural fiction because a lot of it is well speculation and sometimes the theology tends to get a little strange However I did like Cloak of Light much than I was expecting to unlike most of the books in this genre that I ve tried reading it seemed coherent and believable and in the back of the book the author is very clear on what the Bible says about angels and demons and what parts were purely fiction. Symbolism of cloak in the bible The story did have a bit of a superhero quality to it also which was interesting My only quibble is probably that sometimes the author s writing fell into the tell instead of showing trap His writing style isn t bad but it s not particularly amazing or poetic Still it was an interesting read that I think that guys especially will like it I know my brother was interested in reading it after me I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review English 3 Stars It s wrong to do NOTHING when you have the power to do SOMETHING Drew is always getting the short end of the stick He faces tragedy after tragedy but somehow is always prepared for whatever is thrown his way He meets a girl named Sydney along his path in life and she always seems to show up when he least expects it encouraging him with her faith The thing is Drew is of a science guy than a spiritual one Drew and his friend Ben get themselves into trouble in a lab at college and things start to go downhill from there with the loss of his eyesight Drew has to figure out a way to overcome yet another obstacle in his life Somehow with his loss of one ability and as he slowly regains it he is left with a gift of seeing a whole world of dark invaders nobody else can see As he races to defeat them he will stop at nothing to keep those close to him safe Even though I gave this one 3 stars but when I heard about this book even without a summary available I knew I wanted to review it Then I found out that it was about a young man who could see into another dimension and has skills beyond normal human beings I really thought of authors like Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker who have written supernatural stories and speculative fiction and figured this story might be similar to their writing styles I was very wrong I ve never read a book like this before. Cloak of the lightvale bg3 FIRST PART OF DREW S JOURNEY TRAGEDYDrew Carter is 8 years old when the book starts and his father an army special forces soldier has been killed in combat Drew knows his life will never be the same again Then Jake visits them he was Ryan s best friend and made a promise to Ryan that he would take care of his family in any way he could Jake makes good on that promise and becomes a lifeline to Drew as a father and brother The first few chapters are summarized some other parts are summarized also which I normally would be unhappy about but with Black this really works This author wants to introduce a character to us without going into too much detail until later in the story when things REALLY liven up Drew doesn t live a normal life and his story is filled with sadness I didn t cry in any of it but much of it stunned me or had me in disbelief The first part of the book I simply couldn t believe all he endures but I couldn t put the book down There is so much tragedy and adjustment he has to deal with but all the while I couldn t help feeling that he was being protected by God And for every hardship he has to face something beautiful does come out of it. Cloak of the lightr lighter pdf NEXT PART OF DREW S JOURNEY TRAININGDrew meets Benjamin in high school and they become allies at first By the time Drew graduates from high school they have become best friends and that loyalty stays strong in both of them They end up at the same college together and one day Ben confides in Drew about something sinister that has taken place and asks him to accompany him to the lab Ben works in Something goes terribly wrong they re both badly injured and this is where Drew s journey REALLY begins My favorite scenes in the book were with Ben he s such a great character and the only one who believes Drew They both take great risks for one another and rely on each other greatly They couldn t be opposite in personality but their intelligence and skills complement each other More than once Drew comments how strange their friendship and conversations are but this friendship makes up most of the plot and enhances the story line greatly. Cloak lightsout 24mp It was difficult for me to believe that a science experiment is what causes Drew to see the supernatural world One is physical or metaphysical and one is spiritual yet despite me not completely understanding that part of the story it came together nicely in developing Drew s capabilities It s obvious he s chosen for a special purpose in life way beyond getting a college degree or playing football. Cloak of the light wars of the realm book 1 Drew is seeing into the supernatural but he doesn t believe in God The author still creates Drew to be a GREAT character because he has morals and can t walk away when he sees others helplessly in danger He calls the supernatural beings invaders and unknown attackers the good ones he calls light invaders I got a kick of these nicknames and two of the main ones he gives official names Another thing the girl in the story Sydney has strong chemistry with Drew and they also become solid friends Sydney also takes great risks to help Drew and Ben However Sydney is in love with Christ and won t make promises to Drew since he doesn t believe She repeatedly expresses her concern for Drew and promises to keep him in prayer. Cloak of the lightv tv The last thing I thought was interesting in Drew s lack of faith he doesn t have the right methods in fighting escaping defeating these invaders WITHOUT belief in God I thought it was obvious that he was seeing demons but he has to analyze their presence with Ben and while off the grid to figure out what he s dealing with The best thing he uses is ignorance Drew doesn t realize that in his unbelief he s in the most danger He describes these entities as unearthly dressed in black clothing and a trench coat carrying a sword on their back and their movement is incredibly fast HYPERSENSITIVITY HIGHLY OR EXCESSIVELY SENSITIVE IN DREW S CASE ALL 5 SENSES EXPERIENCE HYPERSENSITIVITY TO HIS SURROUNDINGS Drew spends much of the plot coping with his hypersensivity which the doctors can t understand searching for Ben and getting away from invaders while helping citizens caught in their traps In this book both angels and demons can be killed Drew s enemies include the FBI and gang members in Chicago as he searches for Ben The story ends quite abruptly hinting that much of Drew s journey will be continued in Book 2 The ending was completely unexpected and Drew is warned that invaders will be coming for him There is considerable violence in the story but nothing gory I couldn t put the book down and it ended far too quickly as things intensified Even though this story is incredibly written and draws the reader in quickly I would only recommend it for those who like speculative fiction unconventional stories with supernatural beings and a young man with remarkable fighting skills Drew Ben and Sydney are easy to love and cheer for but much of the story is harsh for Drew as he deals with one tragedy after another It s not difficult to see why he has trouble believing in God but this only causes the reader to feel sympathy and hope for Drew that one day he WILL believe He just has to deal with losses and injustice first His character was made for greatness and it will be epic what ends up happening to him next The last impressive thing about Book One is that even though this is a Christian book two of the main characters DO NOT believe in God yet the story is preparing their testimony for when they DO believe THAT will make the sequel even BETTER I want to thank Multnomah Books WaterBrook Multnomah for the review copy provided I was not required to write a positive review The opinions expressed are my own English I have been wanting to read this book for a few years now but did not until now And was it worth the wait To me Yes definitely But I don t know if I d say it would be for a non Christian maybe even a Christian reader It hasa lot of topics brought up and a set up of atheist believer interactions that almost make it a bitgeneric and too oversimplified However the portrayal of spiritual warfare the portrayal of the protagonist as a character and honestly the whole book itself had some fascinating and thought provoking insights I had to restrain myself from rambling off to people about Also the protag was an atheistand though he fell into the typical atheists think Christians are idiots stereotype that didn t make him contemptuous of them Maybe a bit patronising but he also learned to respect themand I kind of appreciated that. Cloak of the lightxian king So there s a lot I could say especially with theology but looking at it as a book Solid story good pacing though a bit rushed at times I think AMAZING and adorable beans of characters though I did think female MC was too pushy not as respectful to someone else s beliefs as she could ve been and honestly an impressive blend of the spirit realm and real world Could fall on the preachy sidebut I was too distracted by my internal rambles about a lot of other parts so I m not exactly a biased reader XDAgainfor me this was definitely worth the wait It had it s flaws and mildly wincy moments but I still really really liked it And will now proceed to write a 20 page ramble about its theological aspects. Cloak of light pf2e Content some violence content in the political way some side character asked a prayer request for a friend trapped in homosexualityyou see a bit of this stuff in book 2 as well Namely about Israel the country and abortion But please keep in mind these books are from the mid 2010s andnothing much I can remember. Cloak of the light summary Oh yeah Please listen to Black s words at the end when he says this isn t an accurate Biblical portrayal But I love the way he writes anyway Passionate guy XD English Truly an epic and riveting start to the WARS OF THE REALM series by Chuck Black Wow Cloak of Light was adventurous exciting and seriously thought provoking I can t believe I waited so long to read this book it is for sure one that I recommend It was powerful and kept me turning pages. Cloak of the light summary This book is of the speculative fiction genre It has a modern day setting and follows a young man named Drew Carter who loves football cars and working out But then there s the fantasy twist which involves epic battles of good vs evil Despite the speculative nature I really feel this book brings out some essential and real truths concerning spiritual warfare especially when Drew wonders something along the lines of What if the whole of mankind walks around caught up in their own lives totally unaware that they have invisible enemies all around Chuck Black s writing style is a tad different than what I normally read But I found myself quite enjoying it The book was fairly fast paced and action packed I really really liked Drew the POV character He was cool and Chuck Black wrote him in a very authentic feeling way Maybe I understand men better haha Drew isn t a Christian but he s been instilled with good morals from his parents and he s seeking and fighting for righteousness. Epub cloak of the light pdf And let s talk about Sydney Pretty much the one prominent female character It was absolutely great to see her being a wise young lady and rejecting the idea of missionary dating Seriously this was so refreshing to see I hardly ever find literary characters who take this stand so that made Sydney stand out to me She s a sweet but independent girl with a heart for God and strong faith. Cloak of the light summary The themes of the spiritual realm and warfare AWESOME The good vs evil angles vs demons battles The part that prayer plays in said battles Cloak of the Light is written in a way and with aspects that I believe attracts young adults and it also had such depth This is a message the Church needs to hear It was thought provoking eye opening challenging and encouraging A great reminder. Cloak of the lightquist This book was just so thrilling mysterious and adventurous this is what I love about speculative fiction I usually read fantasy not books including stuff about angels and demons But I had a subtle knowing that this book would satisfy my craving for a fantasy type adventure and did it ever Yanked me right out of my reading slump Drew and friends enemies kept me up all hours of night grins I can t quite find the words to describe what this book did for me Guys it kept me up at night I read it in about one day and now I m reading the sequel It made me ponder spiritual warfare and get fired up about said topic and how God can work in and through me to impact this unseen war. Cloak of the lightn on roblox I loved these characters I loved how the mystery unfolded about these massive sword wielding invaders who dwell in another dimension I loved the message Now besides reading all the books by Chuck Black I want to meet him I ve gained a respect and admiration for him and his amazing writing and strong faith English Brilliant Literary genius at it s best Chuck Black has come up with a plot so intricate and well thought out however knowing that this is book 1 and that book 2 is in the works So I didn t totally freak out but it did come as a bit of a shock when I finished the book and realized all that I wasn t able to figure out P I didn t know how I d like the book having fallen so totally in love with Chuck Black s Medieval stories and this is such a different setting And yet it wasn t It was still the same style of writing and even had all the cool cloak and dagger stuff literally DDrew and Sydney made a really great hero heroine duo They put me a little in mind of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy but Drew Carter was way cooler I highly recommend this to those who enjoy Christian suspense novels and allegories I would say it s a little intense for younger children but this is great for teens and I think adults would definitely enjoy it as well It s wrong to do nothing when you have the power to do something. Cloak of light neverwinter I received this book for free from Blogging for Books for this honest review English I first read this book almost eight years ago Now the spine is worn from love and multiple re reads I have to fight two other family members for it keep in mind it s my book and Chuck Black s books will forever be on a place of honor on the bookshelf It s interesting how perceptions of books alter as the years pass by When I first read Cloak of the Light I enjoyed it because it was written by my second favorite author and it was a clean Christian story with plenty of action and a plot I supremely enjoyed. Cloak of light pf2e Cloak of the Light is one of the few supernatural books I enjoy The plot itself and the creativity that went into it is pure ingenuity Black intersperses combat technological and scientific terms explaining them in such a way that even the least scientifically inclined like myself can easily understand The way everything weaves together is phenomenal. Alights with cloak to see the view The characters themselves are well written too Drew Ben and Sydney homeschoolers for the win were great of course but my favorite will forever be one whose name is not mentioned in this book but who makes multiple appearances nonetheless Hint it s Validus The evil is chillingly portrayed and quite realistically as well The spiritual arc thoughwhoee Black has never hesitated to incorporate Biblical truths into his writing and I ve always admired him for it We are treated to real gritty and raw renderings of the human world in all its fallen nature Black masterfully illustrates how vital it is to have a strong faith in such a corrupt and evil world This book is packed with salvation themes the importance of sharing your faith and even points toward Biblical sexuality and marriage a character requests prayer for a friend who s fallen into the sin of homosexuality and a character states on numerous occasions she cannot marry an unbeliever I also really appreciate the patriotic theme in this story In a time where our service men and women and our police officers are spat upon and looked down on and when love for our beautiful nation and its Constitutional Democracy is being shifted into socialism and lack of knowledge concerning what we re really supposed to be it was really refreshing Content WarningIt is indicated a character died in the line of duty an explosion occurs and characters are injured in said explosion a minor character is murdered characters are shot characters engage in fights to save others wasp stings and ant bites are caused muggings are indicated characters are attacked kidnapping occur all sorts of nasty individuals emerge and a vile gang is introduced. What genre is cloak of the light There is a scene where a character is peer pressured into trying beer Other characters are inebriated This does not condone drinking rather it pointedly illustrates the dangers of it It is obvious Black is not encouraging folks to imbibe ConclusionThis is such a good book Like Black s Knights of Arrethtrae and his Kingdom Series Wars of the Realm will be a series readers of any age can thoroughly enjoy If you re looking for a solid Christian story with excellent themes morals and undertones Cloak of the Light is the book for you English RTC English OMG that was the best book It is so intriguing the whole concept of the book of being able to see into another dimension is awesome Drew is a great character even though he just seems to have been dealt the worst life ever he doesn t let it get him down We love how Sydney is always so encouraging and always trying to share her faith with Drew even though he s not very receptive to the idea like at all Overall it s a great fast paced story that leaves you ready to drive right into book twoTrust us once you start reading you can t get enough of Drew Thank you Chuck Black for a fantastic modern day adventure English
