Could a supreme court justice be impeached
Scientist and author Louis Del Monte Excellent question Yes life is an aspect of the heat death in progress via Twitter Excerpted from the book in question of which I am the author so I think it kind of works regarding my impressions in a roundabout way There has been so much misinformation about the second law and so many misapplications of it such as to economics and society the decay of which does not actually necessarily directly involve thermodynamics that it will be awhile before the new clear and accurate comprehension of this natural process really takes hold For example when I put forth the idea a few years ago that the second law of thermodynamics and even its ultimate projected manifestation of an eventual heat death for the entire cosmos appear to be factors in the facilitation of life on a science message board I had a person in England argue against me with what I would describe as rabid hostility and he was by no means alone Somewhere along the line I somehow intuited that this furious philosopher was a teacher As he proudly confirmed he was and perhaps still is a high school science teacher At some point he did an abrupt about face and said that yes it seemed I was correct in my seemingly counter intuitive observation about the second law and evolution Perhaps he said this after stumbling across some of Lambert s work online years before I did Yet in acknowledging my observation the British school teacher had lost none of his ferocity toward me He changed his approach from erroneously insisting that I was wrong to saying so what What s your point So entropy facilitates evolution and life He then went on to ask how I could have any pudding if I don t eat my meat No Not really on that pudding business In any case it was heart warming to be met with such open minded curiosity from an educator no less And well I am going to take this opportunity to ponder his question Why does it matter if the effect understood in terms of the second law and even the theoretical far flung heat death happen to lend themselves to our existence One could ask as well why any understanding of how things work matters especially as these concerns are disseminated to the general public Why might a possible heat death in itself be of any relevance especially to the masses I am reminded of a time when my son who now earns straight A s in an impressively diverse spectrum of subjects in college was perhaps five or so He came to me sadly with the fresh knowledge that the sun would not last forever that one day it would perish This of course is true enough and it happens to be a demonstration of the second law but it is not likely to occur for a very long time yet I suspect that he was imparted with this information from a rather nasty kindergarten class in the public school system before his mother got him into a decent charter school This would be the same class in which when he was instructed to recite the alphabet he was admonished for not only stating it forward but then as his grandmother had taught him backward as well And such a useful piece of information especially for one of his age at the time to know that the sun will one day die Yes Learning can be fun As for selling the public on a heat death scenario we are talking about a much larger time frame even than the expected life span of our nearest star In presenting such a tidbit as a heat death to the curious public I would go so far as to suggest that that curiosity is morbid in nature especially when the presenting of this less than uplifting notion excludes my own observation that it would appear to be a factor in our very existence in the here and now something that I am hard pressed to imagine those qualified than myself who study such things have never noticed along the way Then really there is the matter of scientists on the one hand and celebrity scientists or cerebrities as I sometimes call them as well as the news media on the other Fear and nihilism get ratings They can even become addictive characterized by an urge to seek support for the general thrust toward a notion of life as dark and full of despair In that sense the peddling of a heat death seems to me like a kind of favorite boogieman that certain members of the scientific community and probably far so the media trot out of the closet now and then to frighten the masses and thus satisfy what seems a growing hunger in modern life for confirmation that existence itself is ultimately a pointless and terrifying affair And in that the heat death as presented is a thing to warm the heart of many a nihilist There is the all important question of whether one even believes in the boogieman While there is a great deal of circumstantial evidence to support a heat death as a natural ultimate outcome of the second law there are other theories I have my own reasons for doubting that if a heat death comes to fruition it will actually be the last word on the cosmos On occasion I will see headlines pointing out that the heat death may come about sooner than expected which I find a bit amusing The expected span of time before such an event as it is is so far beyond the present that if any descendants of humankind somehow survive that long they should reasonably be expected to have evolved to such a degree as to be completely unrecognizable to us We might be talking about beings that can as easily duck in and out of different dimensions as we can pass from one room of our home to another by which I mean that is how far flung and thus utterly unprovable is this particular boogieman So as for why my observation about it matters lets say that if we are going to sit around a campfire being told this scary story about how the heat death might get you one dark and stormy night Eons upon eons from now I wish merely to decorate this frightening thing with a garland of carnations Whatever else he may or may not prove to be we owe our existence to this particular boogieman to no small extent The heat death aside both the effects of the second law and its blocking in some respects are certainly necessary for our existence 38 This book is a collection of articles and poems related to heat death of everything in the universe The author makes a valid point that death is necessary for life as old cells of the body die to form new cells He further says that old stars died to give rise to life which is also true as hydrogen of stars converted to give heavier elements to facilitate origin of planets and life on them. Book cloud atlas Author reminds us that there is a view against theory of evolution that it is not in agreement with 2nd Law of thermodynamics which states that entropy disorder of a closed system always increases Argument is if disorder always increases in a system then how complex life can be formed on its own unless there is some outside force God to create it Author explains by using the quotes of other scientists that entropy is not a measure of disorder alone it also leads to formation of complex molecules and thus he refutes the disagreement to theory of evolution provided by 2nd Law of Thermodynamics in a philosophical and scientific manner. Could you find a way to let me down slowly Author s command of language is superb which is depicted in his poems on amalgamation of philosophy and science Though he is not educated in science but his deep interest in science is written all over the book 38

We have met the heat death of the universe in progress and it is us EXCERPT Organic cells form reproduce and die within complex organisms that are born reproduce and die within species and civilizations that eventually result in new species and civilizations or simply carry on until they become extinct All because stars are born die and are replaced some former and current stars facilitating habitable planets and life The heat death is the current dominant theory about a proposed final state for the universe Trillions of years from now it is believed by many scientists entropy will be an all pervasive condition in a kind of cosmic mortality where no viable energy will be available any for the formation of stars and planets and life In contrast with the claim of Creationists that the progression in nature toward disorder means that the existence of life must be an intentional act yet a thing that may show nature to be slanted toward life I have noticed that many processes that would be defined as entropy are necessary for our existence While reading the work of Stephen Hawking among others I first began to wrestle with this line of thought in the mid 2000s and only recently learned of a change taking place in text books with regard to the second law of thermodynamics Although there is a connection between entropy and disorder in some respects it is no longer being defined as a tendency toward disorder but is described in terms of energy dispersal My questioning of common perceptions of the second law began in earnest when I learned about the arrow of time The arrow referred to is a directional arrow time being a one way street in direct relation to entropy A glass can fall off a table and shatter on the floor but will never reform up on the table like a film run in reverse I was scratching my head about entropy as a tendency toward disorder when I applied time s arrow to such processes as the formation of fertile soil from death and decay programmed cell death which prevents cancer and the harvesting and processing of plants and animals for food as well as digestion Then there are things like the periodic table of elements and even evolution itself in relation to time s arrow and the second law As the late Dr Carl Sagan famously said We are star stuff How might this relate to the theoretical heat death All of these issues are addressed in the title essay in this book and there are several poems pondering aspects of science and or spirituality often from a Panentheist perspective one of which appeared in Philosophy Now Magazine Could a.
